Sorry ... it doesn't help ... only makes it worse ... as I'm Jonesing for some fishing and now I want to go to Coasta Rica ... :poke:

... but what did you catch there? Did you use plugs, jigs or metal? ... I understand that fishing can be pretty phenomenal ...

Tins point jude Butterfish and Mag Minnows did will at the mouth.
Crossing the river was sketchy ,deep and fast running. I'm not kidding when I said Z's was in a little trouble!
Heres a pic of the spoils . Robalo tastes sooo good with cerveza.
We only hit this spot 2 days. If we had more time I'm sure we would've caught some very big snook and who knows what else. No one else fishing for miles!

That was some of the best tasting fish I've ever had. And look how it was prepared, fit for a king! That was such a great time. I'd do it all again, even the part where I loose my footing and try to swim across that river mouth with a rod in one hand and water bottle in the other, wearing surf booties. I'm going to try to be a little better prepared the next time.

... although I am not privy to the bait fish down there ... bring wood too ... spooks, pencils, metal lips, darters, bottles and needles should all work well for these guys down there ...

... when I lived in South Florida, used the metal lipped dannies for snook around the inlets ... know a number of guys who used darters and bottles for tarpon on the bridges for tarpon at night - mostly NY guys coming down, but they did great ... a captain friend of mine caught an 11-pound seatrout on an atoms metal lip, small one and not wood ...

... and I remember some guys speaking at our club about their success using wooden plugs off coasta rica fishing the reefs and stuff for the snapper and whatever else was there ... amazing fishing ...

... how was the water scenario - for consuming - same as Mexico?

Water rules are the same as Mex . The beer there is like water so might as well just drink Imperials. I still eat salads, fruits ice, etc. And never got sick.
Now that you mention it, wood swimmers would indeed kill there. Next time I'm bringing my Tattoo Swimmers. The swimmers did better than the darters for some reason (all yo zuri). I've got to figure out how to fish that spot at night.

I would do mex first, cheeper prices and fishing is just as good.
No fish pics except for the ones on the platters!
I got some big snook in mex and lost some very large ones in a little town called La Ticla.

Heres a couple of beach shots.
