Do the fuji aluminum oxide guides on the Lamiglas or Ron Arra surf and jetty rods with a sic or alconite replacement tip groove when using a quality braid.

I've put more than a few year on Hardaloy guides... The cheap ones. Absolutely NO signs or wear whatsoever. I think the whole braid wears out guides stuff is a bunch of crap

Agreed. I think it is crap too.

I always use SiC tips. hardloy guides has always worked fine but there is some performance enhancement with SiC guides. SiC guides do crack easier though if you fall down or somehow bang the guides on something hard.

alconite guides will groove always use SIC guides,,, pay alittle more but well worth it,,, SIC guides will crack from your swivel going through them,,, they are not indestructable!!!

Precautions can be made for the tip by using a sic tip. This can easily be swapped. The Sic tip will desipate the heat thus eliminating any wear.
My concern is with the Fuji aluminum oxide guides from below the tip.
Does anyone have experience with these grooving. This will not be for jigging the canal but for plugging up
to 2 oz plugs.

Lami factory rods come with aluminum oxide guides--Fuji BNOG and BSVOG. Not Hardaloy.

I know a few guys with 2-3 year old 1322s and the guides seem to hold up.

no problem with grooving,,, fuji aluminum oxide guides will hold up just fine imo

You still haven't squeezed the trigger? That same rod in excellent shape just sold for $125 somewhere else yesterday. Like I said no worries and changing the tip if needed is a snap.
