Anyone ever have to do a Phone System conversion?

Over 500 physical phones
200 fax lines
over 100 analog lines
multiple phantoms

and trying to filter thru the list of extensions from our 10 year old siemes switch to make sure we dont miss anything we need or add anything we dont..

Oh boy, have to do one by June, your not inspiring me to get working on it. Not as nasty as yours, only 30 digital lines, 120 analog, 50 fax. Unfortunatly I've never worked with phone systems and the majority of the work is up to me, have a PBX system now, they want VOIP, at least the consultants are having some pity on me and showing me how the current system works, and detailing what I have to to. Honestly(don't tell the owners) I think learning new stuff is fun, stressfull, but fun.

When we went to the VOIP system the vendor we chose really walked us through the entire process. You only need a basic knowledge of how your phone system works.... The most stressful part was switching the lines over to the new T1 circuit. You are basically at the mercy of the phone company at that point.

It is a great learning experienc and a great thing to have on your resume.

Then you get to start playing with poe and poe swtiches.... fun

oh i know all about how both systems work..

going from Siemens - to Avaya VOIP... Ive supported the Siemens switch for the last 5 years here in Boston and the Avaya switches for the last 3 in DC and New York...

its almost whats making this worse... they ARE going to do all the programming, I have to sort thru the numbers mess to make sure what they program is correct.

this is VERY exciting otherwise...
