Take a 1/2 hour tonite and walk around your house or shop and take pictures of EVERYTHING. Upload to a hidden site somewhere on the net. WILL make a huge difference when you have to sit down and fill out the ins forms like Steve will have to do. Got to tell them everything you had... would you be able to sit and remember it all...probably not.

fire marshall's[2] found nothing as to how it started.. .But signed off as to not hold thing's up.

Off for a quick nap before I fall down..but Again..I want to thank you all for the kind words and offer's of help.
steve.

Tagger 02-28-2007, 10:51 PM Hey Steve ,,, just talking to someone this happened too .. Mac was there also .. He said no problem the insurance company paying off on the building . They cut him a check with in a week .. Contents was another story . They said could take up to 3 months .. He hired a guy that went thru the burnt up stuff and for a percentage ,,I want to say ten . The guy wrote up all the items and pushed the paper work thru .. He said it was well worth it because the guy put every little tiny thing down .. The guy was pricing a pound of 16d nails at HD to put on the list .. ask Mac .
Skitterpop 02-28-2007, 10:51 PM Is there a fundraiser in order here? ..... plug and tackle raffle. Don`t know if this is appropriate but I would donate.

capesams 03-02-2007, 07:25 AM With alot of phone calls,,hand shaking and thank you's . We moved into our new temp. shop[bare] ..going shopping today for for some larger pcs of equipment must have to keep going...///dug up all my coffee cans in the back yard/// but what the heck..can't take it with you...support from everyone has been great.sure takes the bite out of this mess.
the only thing that I'll miss is my grandfathers bandsaw...it was well over 100 years old...I remember as a kid standing there watching him cutting out profiles of shore birds so he could carve them into life like birds.
Bobby M the telly phoneman...how the H*** are ya:wavey:
BigFish 03-02-2007, 08:58 AM Capesams....that is a shame losing that bandsaw. Keep the memories!:uhuh:
Raven 03-02-2007, 08:59 AM Did that band saw (your grandfather's) have antique value? beyond it's replacement cost?
just wondered... i know they're treating you well....
capesams 03-02-2007, 01:20 PM I'm sure it does...had pockets that the wheel shafts sat/layed in that were made of lead, that had to be oiled all the time. it was also a left cutting table..backwards of what they are today...30" wheels an cast iron one pc frame..even though its twisted and sagging,, I'm still going to hang onto it....once I can get to it.
Rockfish9 03-02-2007, 01:29 PM That is beyond terrible.... if there is anything I can just PM me, if I can help I will.... I lost everything once in a fire as a teenager, I know how it feels...

Raven 03-02-2007, 03:40 PM That is beyond terrible.... if there is anything I can just PM me, if I can help I will
.... I lost everything once in a fire as a teenager, I know how it feels...
yeah me too Rockfish9 ...the firemen shoveled everything out the windows of the third floor
....i'm lucky to be alive actually...
i had a door knob burn on my right hand for months after i opened the door to the inferno...
i'd be rich now! if i had kept my treasure chest of full baseball cards....and comic books...
i saved everything...
woodbutcher 03-02-2007, 10:57 PM Just thinking about it gives me a knot in my gut. Hang tough, everything that's truly irreplaceable is still breathing.
chumbucket 03-27-2007, 02:02 PM I totally missed this Capesams. Wow...How are things now in the new shop?
Chum

gone fishin 03-29-2007, 07:35 PM WOW I have seen fire loss before but that is awful. It looks like the fire dept. couldn't do anything to stop that one. I wish you luck again in the new shop.
Saltheart 03-29-2007, 07:39 PM Incredible. Everything burned to charcoal. I hope things work out eventually.
NEXT2NUN 03-29-2007, 08:00 PM There must have been a lot of things that just can't be replaced in there. I'm lost for words.
Karl F 03-29-2007, 08:21 PM WOW...:eyes:
I can't imagine how heartbreaking this has been for you...
Hope that everything has been going well in the transition.
capesams 03-29-2007, 08:58 PM lots of good times we had in there..sad ones too...many things won't get replaced...some already have been..one more town board hearing and she'll be gone...soon to be replaced with a new shop...guess it'll be another fishless season, but well worth the time it'll take to rebuild it....txs again for the well wishes and good luck.
ShipWrecked 03-29-2007, 09:16 PM I am sorry about your loss. I know what it feels like to lose everything in a fire. When I was a boy we lost our house to a fire just before Christimas. You have to look at this way this things can be replaced but people cant. I almost lost my mother and little brother in that fire but I was grateful I didnt.
Fire is terrible..
Good Luck Rebuilding.
JohnR 03-30-2007, 05:47 AM Good Luck Steve - but still get out fishing a few times at least. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, it does for fishing too....
EricM 03-31-2007, 11:53 AM Holy Moses, that is a complete catastrophe. Very sorry for your loss and best of luck rebuilding and re-equipping.
