I always hear about packing 704's and 706's with grease. What about other reels? Can pretty much any reel be packed with grease? How about a Shimano Spheros, Daiwa SS2600, or maybe a Quantum Cabo. Has anyone tried this? I'd love to hear your feedback. I was considering trying it with a SS2600 this season.

Only reason I packed my 704's was to shut up the damn anti reverse clicker..:skulz:

I packed my spheros 8000. I am not sure how well it worked, because my speros is no longer in very good working condition after getting wet many times. I will admit, I barely ever cleaned or serviced it, but packing with grease or vaseline made it very difficult to service on a regular basis like the 704/06 due to alot of parts in the reel.

Yes it can be done, yes it will probably help the reel's longevity if its getting wet alot, but be careful to clean it often anyways.

titan, it is done to keep water from getting in, it is the old rule if grease is coming out water can't get in, It still does though. Just don't over fill it
