Cheaper across the bridge than in Buzzards Bay--Exxon at the rotary was $2.49 last night. The Thursday before President's Day it had gone down to $2.19 at that station--$2.13 farther down Main Street. Up 30 cents in two weeks--why?--because they can :af: baldwin 03-02-2007, 06:03 PM We own an oil-producing middle eastern country, and can't even take advantage of that? If we're going to have an unjustified invasion and abuse our military strength, they should at least give us decent gas prices. It was $2.39 9/10 :rollem: kevin d 03-04-2007, 08:56 AM Has anyone heard why the price went up this time? So screw the gas cos. and get a hybrid. FishHawk Yeah, well, maybe if you are in need of a new vehicle, but, it doesn't make much sense to trade in a paid for vehicle only lay out $20K + for a hybrid to save a few bucks at the pump, but last summer people went into a panic and did just that....:fishslap: Rockfish9 03-05-2007, 11:48 AM I'm sure this will get blamed on last weeks stock market crash....(adjustment) I was pondering it all this morning as I pumped 68 bucks worth of gas into my PU...... This keeps up I'll be doing alot more surf fishing and leave the boat at the dock.... Karl F 03-05-2007, 12:11 PM Once again, seasonal industry activity combined with speculative investing, mixed with geopolitical tension has created an environment for higher fuel costs. Overall, the direction for fuel prices this summer and later will be determined by whether consumer and investor demand for energy stays high, or is scared away by the political and economic events of the future From an article online explaining it this AM.... Raven 03-05-2007, 03:27 PM quit crying ya land lubbers and rig a sail..... hell, i took a bed sheet , made a mast for a pram and sailed everywhere......no problem. i'd do it again.... if i had a good trolling motor....:devil2: chris L 03-05-2007, 03:51 PM I went to M&Ds this morning. Karl F 03-13-2007, 06:56 AM True Raven.. they are trying to sqeeze the independents out.. they want to own all the reatail outlets, (chain style) too. Friend of mine is in it with his family, 50 years plus.. they only hang on to the gas end of it, becasue of his father, too stubborn, or sentimental to quit is... I have seen the invoices.. they pay more, than the chain owned store (same brand), a mile down the road.. sad.... afterhours 03-15-2007, 04:52 PM ..still going up- another .04! someone call the police we bein' robbed! i truely wish those cacksuckers in charge choke on it! cheferson 03-16-2007, 06:42 AM Im not complaining so much after seeing what people are paying in europe, $6-9 a gallon. Living on a fixed income, the hybrid helps me take trip that I would normally not be able to . So screw the gas cos. and get a hybrid. FishHawk I know several people with the Prius, they all love those cars. And the freedom to be able drive with a little less concern about how much fuel they're gobbling down. When you think of how many miles many of us cover in a season (as long as it's not on a beach), a fuel sipper like that makes a lot of sense, not counting the fact surf rods don't fit inside very easily. But that's what roof racks are for. Bassturbed said we were in for a downswing because of oversupply. This is the first time that I know Bassturb was wrong.:rotfl: um, that's not necessarily what i said. oil did briefly go down to $49 bbl on supply concerns ... but then rallied back up when the really cold winter weather hit. if you've been watching OPEC lately, they have been cutting back production because they want to see crude in a trading range of $55-$65 /bbl. anyways, gas prices always tick up before the summer driving season, because that's when gasoline demand peaks. this uptick is being exacerbated by the #^&#^&#^&#^&heads in Iran. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
