Myth Busters Presentation: Catching a Trophy on A Fly delivers important information on how to scout, prepare, and find the most ideal location to catch a striper over 25 lbs on a fly
Capt. Ray Stachelek is an innovative fly designer. His nationally known "Angel Hair Series" pioneered the use of Angel Hair in saltwater ten years ago. He is a member of the Umpqua Feather Merchants professional tiers team. You will see many of these patterns listed in fishing catalogs or sold thru fly shops across the nation. Glitter flies have become a main staple to saltwater fly fishing. His latest creation, The Ultra-Bright Rattle Squid appeared in the fall '06 issue of Fly Tier. It has earned the reputation of catching stripers over 25 lbs by several anglers.
Ray's articles and photography have frequently appeared in such national magazines as Saltwater Fly Fishing, Fly Fishing Saltwater, and Fly Tier Magazine. He contributes to local newspapers and websites. Ray demonstrates his tying techniques at national fly shows during the winter months. He does seminars for area fishing clubs on topics that range from fly tying to light tackle angling. He is active in such local affiliates as Rhody Fly Rodders and United Fly Tyer's RI and has served on the board of both. He is also sponsored by the Mercury Saltwater Fishing Team.
