Fish, being pokilothermic, are dependent to a large extent on the water temperature to influence their body temperature. Warmer waters make warmer bodies, faster metabolisms, more eating, migration. Water temperature differences also help explain why fish hang around longer some autumns than others. The sun angle is the same every year.
