View Full Version : What the hell is going on with the canal dredging?
keeperreaper 04-02-2007, 09:27 PM This might be a major snafu for alot of anglers and local businesses. Whats the story? Are they really going to dredge during the herring run? That should help rebuild the run.....NOT. With all the dirty water and the silt plume that the dredges cause the beaches are going to be a lot more crowded because there will be huge areas of the canal where NO Fishing will be the rule for the time being. What a Pain in the ass and the timing by the COE couldn't be any worse. This is not a good thing.
striprman 04-02-2007, 10:25 PM I kind of think it's a good thing that only double hull tankers will now go through there . Bummer that certain canal area will be "off limits", but thats what needs to be done to let these "safer" boats through the passage.
The canal bottom contours will change, and,in time, new fishing "holes" will be created.
JohnR 04-03-2007, 05:28 AM How do you dredge lead?
Sounds like a necessary thing (though the impact seems to be underestimated)
