djfishes 04-05-2007, 12:54 PM Just got my VW Vanagon. Working on it day and night to get it ready for the season ahead. It provides a great spot for the Fiance to rest while I fish all night. Just dropped the alternator into it and changed all the belts. I want to get or create a pole holder that sits on the back bumber. Is there anything that you guys can suggest for this? Roof racks would be to high up ( I'd need a ladder ) and inside would be kinda in the head way.
And if you see a vanagon grey with black strips feel free to stop and say hello.
Thanks for your imput.
DJ
Pete_G 04-05-2007, 01:06 PM Too bad it's not a Syncro Camper. Then you'd really have the ultimate fishing machine.
As for your question, maybe a cooler rack built to go into a trailer hitch?
Speaking from experience though, vertical 10 footers can be more then a little scary on some roadways. Vertical clearance can be a VERY serious issue.
I was going to mention that above 70 mph or so on windy days they start to sway in a mildly concerning way too, but in a Vanagon that's irrelevant... :hihi:

djfishes 04-05-2007, 02:25 PM if it goes 70 then i'll worrry

If it's got cabinets, are they suspended or are they on the floor? Either way, there might be wasted space either above or below that could be used?

 Are you putting an addition on this? They're kind of small inside.
djfishes 04-06-2007, 04:52 PM Bought this because i just wanted something a little bigger then my CHITFIRE (crossfire) that is the only car i own and trust me a 20#er in the hatch back isn't cool. Thinking of adding a live well to. They are kinda small in the inside but I took the middle 2 seats out today for more room. My parents own a floor covering store and they have alot of left supplies that i can pimp this thing out wtih.
djfishes 04-07-2007, 09:41 PM Ripped out the carpet yesterday and to my surprise i found fermenterd bag of pot. In the front seat there was a corner of carpet that was lifted and it was under there.... Considering that i bought this off me future mother inlaw i think i need to have a talk with her
