View Full Version : Wanted Vertical Milling machine
UserRemoved1 04-08-2007, 07:27 PM Bridgeport etc. I know there are guys out there who have them collecting dust in their garages...I'm on the hunt I need another one. Will pick up anywhere in new england..
Also looking for a nice old hardinge metal lathe or something that will take standard collets etc..
Slipknot 04-08-2007, 09:37 PM do you have a need for a line boring machine at all? I have a Ritter 19 hole machine I don't use enough and want to sell it for around 1250, they go for 4 grand new now. It is 3 phase and has a static converter on it now. Vertical line borer, the bits in it now are 5 mm I think but can be changed to whatever. Foot pedal pneumatically operated.
UserRemoved1 04-09-2007, 02:38 AM no sorry slip looking for mill. i've looked at those ritter machines and can't come up with a way to modify them to do anything useful but drill a huge line of holes :) Now if I could make em go to 3/4" spacing minimum, be adjustable and add a nice machinists chuck on there then I could use about 20 of them :D
ProfessorM 04-09-2007, 10:53 AM Hope you have deep pockets if you want a Hardinge. Even ones that are old and beat will cost you.
UserRemoved1 04-09-2007, 05:35 PM west coast is full of them paul but $$ to ship them is only problem. Even with a 70% discount I get through old dominion it's expensive. The lathe is the cheap part. If I don't find a mill used around here I am looking at one of those 2hp shopfox units with the base. With the addition of some glass scales I may even cnc the thing.

C-5 CC 04-09-2007, 08:55 PM Salty-My Father-in-law has a South Bend model 15-YB 3' rail with a 4 1/2" swing from the center to the bed. He also has a cabinet that is custom built that holds all the parts and bits. Lots of of stuff goes with it. Space plates, etc. If interested, I'll get you pictures and a price. He also has a band saw, radial arm saw and a whole basement full of you -name- it!!
UserRemoved1 04-10-2007, 05:09 AM c-5 i'm interested shoot me some details.
email is scott@#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&.com
C-5 CC 04-10-2007, 07:42 AM I sent you an email (forgot to put subject in)
C-5 CC 04-10-2007, 01:27 PM He will give you a call, probably this afternoon or evening. Just keep asking, "what else do you have?" He and my mother in law are moving to FL and need to lighten the load substantially!!! The poor guy has horrible back problems, so it might take him a while to dig stuff out and get pics. He has a band saw, 6" planer, 6" joiner, tall drill press, possibly a table saw and dust collection system and a cieling mount air filter. He is located in central NJ.
UserRemoved1 04-10-2007, 01:35 PM C5 that's too far away to pickup. I did not know he was in nj or I would have said that earlier. Maybe someone else down there might want to deal on the stuff.
C-5 CC 04-10-2007, 03:04 PM Scott- Don't count it out yet. I just got back from there yesterday, and will probably be going back there sometime soon, and would not mind tr#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g it back to CT.
UserRemoved1 04-10-2007, 03:23 PM Nope I actually just got off the fone with him Brandon, he's going to shoot some pics and email to me. Sounds like a decent setup..and the drill etc also. I have a trip coming up to Dayton in May so may even try to get there on the way back. thanks for that heads up.
