Just saw him in the recovery room, he is quite groggy but looks good and is in good spirits, They said they prefered no visitors today as its going to be awhile till they find him a room and also he has to come out of the anesthesia fully...basically he will sleep all day.

The doctor said he had to remove the complete disc so thats a little more involved than just removing half of it which is what was planned at first, after he got in there and saw what he was dealing with he just decided to remove it all.

I have had this surgery twice(two discs removed) and ironically by the same doctor as dave...he is a great surgeon. I know that the recovery is a long one with a full Laminectomy like dave had..but hopefully, as in my case, all his pain will be gone and his recovery will be a full one..Ok Thats all I have and he apreciates everyones well wishes and has his laptop with him ! I am sure he will be posting from his hospital bed as soon as he gets to a room!

That pain will subside dave, its all normal, before you know it youll feel much better, your back was hacked open today...of course its going to be sore for awhile !! Dave,... if you have no morphine button... start a log...
of when you get your pain meds so you can discuss the intervals more accurately with the Doc....
how soon it wears off ect...

Sux, can't sit long, can't stand long, hurts like hell. I miss the hospital bed and Morphine..And the great nurses, that hospital was top notch.

sweet! we can all fish from floating pool thrones with beers in the cupholder. just attach them all in a line to shore, and nobody gets lost. we can get f18 an orthopedic one. oh, im liking this idea!
