View Full Version : Striper cup - We going to field a team? ThrowingTimber 04-12-2007, 12:32 PM We in again this year? JohnR 04-12-2007, 12:37 PM Yep ;) Sluggoslinger 04-12-2007, 12:48 PM You can count me in for the boat class. JohnR 04-12-2007, 01:04 PM Not sure if I want to register for boat or surf as I plan to do both :wall: MrHunters 04-12-2007, 01:06 PM can't you somehow register for both? tattoobob 04-12-2007, 04:18 PM can't you somehow register for both? Not that I saw, I signed up for the surf, But I know a bigger fish for me will be a fish caught out of my boat. I like the challenge nightfighter 04-12-2007, 05:22 PM Suppose you signed up for boat division, and you caught large in the surf, would there be an issue weighing it in??? I can see the problem if vice versa...... Swimmer 04-12-2007, 08:13 PM I signed up for the boat division for S-B. Squid kids Dad 04-12-2007, 08:35 PM Boat fish dont count...:bl: MrHunters 04-13-2007, 07:00 AM can MrHunters sign up for boat and Mr S. Hunters sign up for shore? :) :) :) Rockport24 04-13-2007, 07:45 AM from the OTW website: "All entrants must register in either the BOAT, SHORE or YOUTH division when signing up for the tournament. For the duration of the tournament, an entrant can only weigh in fish for the division in which he/she is registered. " So according to that, if you are registered in the Boat Division, and you catch a good fish from shore, you can't weigh it in the shore division... I guess nothing's stopping you from weighing it as a boat fish though, you just won't get the points you deseve for shore-caught fish. Swimmer 04-13-2007, 02:47 PM Watch that bro! I know but it is the only chance I have at making a significant contribution. Christian 04-13-2007, 05:45 PM i'll be in this year. surf MartinD18 04-13-2007, 06:14 PM Boat or shore. The idea was to level the playing field and discourage cheating. Why would you want to cheat? If the people at OTW think you're weighing in a fish you caught from a boat in the shore division you'll be subject to a lie detector test. By being able to register in both divisions there would be too much danger of weighing in a fish caught in one division in the other. I guess if people are determined to cheat they will. They have to look themsleves in the mirror though, and sooner or later the truth comes out because people who cheat tend to brag about it. What's the point? don't you remember the screaming about the poacher last year? Everyone has to make up their own mind I guess. If someone is scheming about how they can get away with entering in boht divisions, its kinda sad I think. Pathetic almost. nightfighter 04-13-2007, 06:44 PM Just in case that was directed at me, let me clarify my question. Assuming that OTW is awarding 1.5 points per pound for a shore caught fish, wouldn't we assume they are considering a shore caught fish to be more of an achievement. So my question would be, if I were entered in the boat division, and caught a large enough fish that I wanted to weigh in for points/pins/see my name in lights, would that shore caught fish be eligible for weigh in under my boat division entry? MrHunters 04-13-2007, 08:32 PM and in case that was directed at me... i wasnt implying that i would cheat. i just do both so would like to know if there was a possible way to sign up for both. i can't get away with lying about what i had for dinner. i was raised catholic :rotf3: :rotf3: Squid kids Dad 04-13-2007, 08:34 PM Especially during lent...:rotfl: MartinD18 04-13-2007, 09:21 PM uuhh....I don't see why this is so hard to understand. shore = shore. boat = boat. If a fish is caught from shore and the angler is registered as a boat angler, it can't be tallied as a boat-caught fish. If a fish is caught from a boat, and the angler is registered as a shore angler, it can't be tallied as a shore fish. Seems pretty straight forward... The point is, the thing seems a lot more fair than last year and it is the angler's obligation to play fair too. Being able to register as both shore and boat angler is not only HUGELY unfair to someone who doesn't own or fish from a boat, it opens up the possibility (easily) to weigh in that 50 (that is a much bigger possibility for the boat angler than a shore angler) as a SHORE fish - not that any of the totally honest fishermen here would do such a thing. MrHunters 04-13-2007, 09:27 PM sarcasm anyone? assuming you are an honest individual i don't see how it would be unfair to the shore angler, if you are registered in two divisions and treated as two different people. In fact, assuming you are an honest individual, its more of a disadvantage because you are dedicating less time to each style. relax dude, it was just a question tattoobob 04-13-2007, 09:33 PM I was wondering if you pay for shore then you pay for boat then could you enter a fish in either, no cheating that way, it would be worth sending an email to OTW, I think we all understand the rules vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
