what a royal pain in the ass,, i'm tellin you...
2nd time this month my car auto locked on me after i put
my keys in the ignition .....even though i'm looking for it.

and it's always in the nastiest most raw sloppy weather too.

i noticed my shopping cart rolling away about to slam into
a parked car so i chased after it.... and thought my door
was fairly open... nope ... still locked me out ...S.O.B

luckily it aint that hard to break into it with a coat hanger
and a cleaner's store was in sight (free coat hangers)

still took me ten or fifteen minutes..... ahhhhhhhhh :poke:

Thats why my truck is as bare bones as I could get it......none of those frilly power options for this guy!!!:kewl:

i think it's because the power lock switch is broken off on the
drivers side...so its always trying to lock itself...

(anyone know if they are difficult to replace?)

normally i roll down a window so i can reach in....
i had been carrying a spare key...but that's misplaced now
after the wife used it.... :bc:

i meant to wrap my coat hanger on the frame under neath
somewhere
for future lock outs.... :hs: now theres two in the car.

Raven, you may be able to reprogram the system to exclude the locks on the door from locking. I suggest to search ebay regarding the keyless entry control for the car. This will then lead you to the programming instructions or search the web you'll find the reprogram instructions
The instructions are mostly manual like shuting your door a certain number of times while the key is in the ignition, etc.

when i go to totally lock up the ride...

especially the rear hatch back...

i have to toggle the ignition back and forth
just right to find the sweet spot to get all
doors auto locked while i shop...

sometimes i get it one try sometimes ten tries...
definitely getting on my nerves....

Look in your owners manual. You can set those auto-locks up to do a number of things, including not auto-locking.

I lost one of my gizmos but still have a spare. If I wanted another gizmo I'd first record the FCC number written on the back of the gizmo then search Ebay for the gizmo with that fcc number. Ebay will have the gizmos for sale and at times tell you where to look for reprogramming the gizmo or search forums for your type car.
Maybe your gizmo is not good or the car is not programmed for that gizmo. Easy to do just have tao find those instructions and fiddle around with it.
Again note that there are instructions that also allow you to disable door locks when the key is in the ignition.

Is it the Caravan thats giving u the auto lock problems? If so, check all the door switches, common problem, front doors and sliders. Do u have and problem with the dome light flickering or the chimes going on an off for no reason too?

You can buy the new gizmos too. The place that sells them will program them to your car.

actually I have a 2000 Caravan with almost 100,000 mi on it and I have never had a single problem with it. It's a good car with plenty of room and it doesn't owe me a dime witch is more than I can say for most of the other cars I've had.
