Just heard on fox 25 that an angler was washed off the shore at 830 tonight near Jamestown. I hope that they find him fast.

GattaFish 04-15-2007, 02:27 AM I had a scary night like that,,,,, Will never forget it,,,, Just lucky it turned out ok,,,,, My buddy saw the whole thing but was just to far away to help,,,, Scared the crap out of him too,,,,,, afterhours 04-15-2007, 07:37 AM glad they found the kid. used to fish there alot- maximum attention and awareness are a must as with all these dangerous places we inhabit in the middle of the night with little sleep. Swimmer 04-15-2007, 11:28 AM Now that this has occured what about...............has anyone here ever purchsed one of those beacons the commercials guys attached to themselves or thier survival suits that goes off if you hit the water for use when jetty fishing. Not out of the realm of possibilities that you could get washed over the other side of a jetty. Chris in Mass 04-15-2007, 06:02 PM Fished quite a bit there last season and got pretty used to it until one night when a friend of mine and I went there on a big heave. Fortunately we took our time scoping out the situation as we inched our way out, and the water kept coming and coming. Got lifted up a couple of times at places you normally walk and semed fine a few waves before. Didn't even fish - tuned around and hit a few coves. I still think about that night quite a bit. Gunpowder 04-16-2007, 09:39 AM i was thinkin about getting one of the personal beacons for boat fishing alone and surf casting at areas where its just me and some huge waves and boulders, but the prices right now are a little to steep for me. they run about $750 and up right now. but then again, thats a cheap life insurance policy.... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
