hook placement on a real ballerina is far back ,,.. a zarragossa has the hook more centered .

Thanks for the kind words guys. still tinkering with these trying to get them to swim right. i started out with a 1/4 tail weight and the plug sank on me.

I rewired it yesterday with about 1/3 less weight in the tail. tested it this morning.....it now just barely sinks. mine is only 5g heavier than lou's, but i put a belly weight in front of the hook instead of behind it.

Im going to take a little more off the tail weight and if that doesn't work i'll start changing the hooks.

I make mine like the original, it has one belly weight a little before the tail, no tail-center-weight at all. I use a 3/8" belly weight or try to proportion it to the size of the body. I just made a few more so I'll put some pics up soon. The first one I made a few years ago worked well, they don't cast as well as a pencil but they spook much better than a spook. If you have an orininal, try to get the profile close to that, it helps also. Did you use ayc? Like tagger said, the belly hook should go far back, next time try a bit further back with the hook,no tail weight just a belly weight.

I did not use a tail weight .I put a slug around 3/4 ,2/3 back.

hook point on original is halfway, belly weight is 3/4 way back. plug is 4-1/4" long
mine are saltwater bigfish size, i didn't point the nose as much but they do things

Lower, pick one I owe you, top or bottom , the ones with dark around the eyes.

youngsalt, the small one on the bottom is an original, they work really well, but more of a boat lure with light tackle, good for LM too I bet
