After reading about BFs pinched nerve it got me thinking about what the worst pain I ever felt was.

For me it was when I had to have 4 spinal taps when I has bacterial meningitis when I was 14.

A close second was after a car accident in '96.I woke up to find my right arm pointing straight backwards. My humorous had what could be described as triple spiral fracture with many floating pieces. When the shock wore off...OMG!!!

An honorable mention would be when I fell off a ladder in Feb. of '06 and broke a rib.

So what's your pain?

It takes time,that's for sure.

Proper medication and physical therapy can be a big help.

Kidney stones. The first one was bad but it passed while I was in the emergency room. The second one, a year later, was much worse.
For what it's worth, my nurse had 3 kids and kidney stones. She said she would rather give birth than pass another stone.

After my back surgery, 1st 2 days were hell, pretty bad for another week after that. Not sure is I'd want to go thru that again. Morphine didn't put a dent in the pain.

When I lost a fish so large it could have been a record who knows, it hurt very very bad.
then there was a ruptured disk that got worse and worse as a month went by with me still working and building an addition on my house the whole time, got so bad I didn't sleep for 3 nights and sat at the edge of the bed moaning, couldn't sit in the car, had to have the wife drive me in my van while laying on the floor on my side.
then there was food poisoning, made me realize what childbirth must be like.

Fall off tower

2 broken vertebrae, 3" fracture in sternum and bruised heart

THAT %$%$%$%$in hurt.

Runner up would be the nerve in my finger in between pain meds.

Second runner up would be a rusty 20 penny nail in a board going completely through my foot with a sneaker on and my dad having to pull it out to go to the hospital.

Jeez forgot to mention in '99 I literally shattered both knee caps in another car accident but at that point I was used to the idea of pain that
it didn't seem as bad as it was.

Another honorable mention would be when I was 11 we took a family vacay and I closed the locked door right across the palm of my left hand.Every animal at Benson's Wild Animal Farm heard me that day!

Those meningitis induced headaches weren't much fun either.

would be seeing someone wear white before Memmorial Day or after Labor Day. What a lament.

I have been very lucky compared to you guys. Hitting the bridge of my nose with a 28 oz. framing hammer taking batter boards off of an interior 2nd floor wall hurt like a mother you know what. Going to my knees next to an unprotected second floor stairwell open all the way to the cellar floor as a result scared the beejesus out of me.

freshman year of gym.. 2 mile run, my left knee was already hurting and i jumped onto the curb, landed wrong on my foot, dislocated my knee, having the nurse and the teacher run over, and with no warning at all pop it back in [ i've never yelled louder ], and tell me to go finish running. i hopped out of class.

Pinched nerve going out of my neck and out left shoulder. After years of neck pain, I had a bone spur growing into my spinal canal. PAIN WAS LIKE CHEWING TIN FOIL but it never relented for 3-4 sleepless days. Prescriptin meds didnt amke a dent. Quack nurse practitioner gave me tylenol and told me to see a chiropracter, chiropracter almost apralyzed me. Discectomy, cadaver bones, 3 screws, and titanium plate later, all is well.

Big Fish, consider going to see a Dr. if the pain gets too bad. Get real meds. He checked my reflexes, all messed up. plunked my middel finger, and my thumb moved. aye-yi-yi. It's painful to even recall.

Slipped on ice at the top of stairs and landed on my back. Couldn't move for 15 minutes and crawled back into the house. Nearly had Jenn call for an ambulance. Cracked ribs, bruised coccyc, and whiplash. Locked my bowels for a weekand a half. Missed a week of work. Still sneak up on that set of stairs after 4 years....

kidney stones are known as the worst...had them...

back pain so bad ya wanna cry..... that continues....

getting hit in the face by a boomer rang comes to mind.

but i'll never forget that one day while i had on my cast
on for my broken ankle....

my larger dingo dog came running across the room
to greet me in a happiness mode....

she turned sideways and body slammed my leg hitting the cast
in particular... which woke it up bigtime and it swelled up
with no where for the swelling to go.... still in a cast...
pain that had me writhing and yelling...
i took allot of strong meds that day/ i can tell you that.

Compound fracture right arm. Broke it in a bike crash(pedal)when I was 16. I broke that arm 4 other times in football but that was the worst. i also broke every bone in my foot and ankle in a car crash when I was 20 and that was a close 2nd.

ahhh. i was 19 i think. I was on our old boat...a 60 foot long custom steel ketch. We were almost inside cutyhunk harbor and had just headed up into the wind do do something, maybe drop the main, I forget...Anyway, I was up on the fordeck. I bent over to grab something and the clew of the genoa somehow managed to come from behind me and tag my nuts at about 100 mph.. For those who dont know what the clew is, on that sail it was a 2 inch stainless grommet sewn into the corner of the sail. it probably weighs a pound.

i get the shivers just thinking about that one :hihi:

back pain was no fun, but the worst for mme was bursitis with impingement and a floating bone chip in my left shoulder. the pain went from my neck down to my thumb and it felt like my arm was on fire. SS Hospital gave me flexeril, percocet and dilaudid but that wouldn't even take the edge off. My primary dr got me in to see a specialist (after about 2 weeks) and he refused to give me a shot saying that my mri was unavailable, I wanted to kick him in the nutz, :af: I got my mri, xrays, and report and called the Baptist Hosp, where I got a cortizne shot and set up w/ therapy. This went on for about a month

Going over backwards while doing a wheelie on a dirtbike with no helmet on pavement. Crushed some bones in my face and now have some titanium in my cheak.

An honorable mention would be my college roomate who fell mountainbiking with clipless pedels and managed to tear his foot off so that it was only holding on by some skin. The first person to arrive on the scene passed out when they saw the carnage and the second person threw up. They were able to re-attach it but he walks with a limp.

Back around 1990 while i was fishing commercially I got hit in the face with a 1" steel rope, saw stars, birds and the lights almost went out. Ended up with broken nose and crushed some bones around my eye socket. Hurt more when they had to break my nose again to straighten it out That pain does not compare to the pain I went thru with the gall bladder, I had the stupid man syndrome for about 5 months, and when I was curled up on the floor in a ball in the batroom one night I figured it was time to go have it checked. The doctor was a real pro, and was upset when he had to make his cut to remove the bag of rocks larger. He did say it was a trophy.

Same here except you forgot they send in some sweet young thing to put in the catheter tube that suddenly looks the size of a baseball bat and feels like it, where it doesn’t belong. She cradled me so tenderly and zip.... Seeing me holding the bed rail white knuckled she asked if it hurt. I whispered YES. So she pulled it out and repeated the whole thing again.... same results, it still hurt. She asked if it still hurt and I whimpered no. fool me once and I won’t fall for that one again. Got even though. shoulda seen the look on her face as that bed pan filled to the rim. she should have used a much bigger one.

Not sure I can top some of the ones already put up but....

1. Back pain - playing basketball came down flat footed (white guy that could jump) and compressed a disk. had to walk to the T and had trouble lifting my leg up to a curb. 1 week on the floor with flexeril and it only goes out once in a while now.

2. Helping my dad out when I was 10. Putting stone in an electric cement mixer, reached around with one hand and put the other where it was not supposed to be. Had two fingers stuck between the gears but that did not hurt. When they got the gears off and blood started to rush to my two crushed fingers, now that hurt.

3. Dropping a big pipe threader on my sneakered tow, hurt. Not releasing the blood for a couple of days and then having to have the doctor poke the nail with a hot needle, and then squeeze the tow. That hurt.

Good luck with the recovery BF.

I had warts on my hands for a long time, seen many a doctor and all kinds of treatment. The last thing I had done was getting zapped by laser, they increase the # of jewels each vist. The first vist is like someone snapping a thin rubber band over and over in small area around the warts. They had increased the jewels and at the end it felt like someone snapping a thick rubber band ...it hurt like ^%$# hell, I left that day with tears in my eyes and swore I would never set foot in that place again.

1. Had shingles in my scalp and forehead last fall. Percocet wouldn't even touch it. Nerve root pain is a different type of pain. A deep searing like an internal fire.
2. Stepped barefoot on a tie tack with a 1/2 inch stud left on the wood floor at the bottom of the stairs by my daughter. Went into the ball of my foot with all my weight on it as I stepped off a step. Must have hit the bone. Holy %$%$%$%$!
3. Got launched off over the handle bars on my mountain bike. Outside of my knee landed on a softball sized pointed rock with my weight plus a lot of force. Tried to stand up but it felt like my femur would snap if I put too much pressure on it. I expected it to just break in half. It didn't and I drove myself to the ER on the way home. Turns out I deeply bruised the tendons and bone on the outside of my knee. Needed PT to get it right.

Hurt enough to see spots.
Bought steel toe boots at 6:00 PM sharp the same day.
2.) Piece of slag off an air/gas torch (Molten steel 3000°+ F) INSIDE above mentioned steel toe boot. Wearing liner socks under long underwear under wool socks under boots under jeans. Melted right through all the layers to leave a nice purple dot.
Hurt dance/rolling around on the floor trying to get boots off=about 10-12 minutes.
That is all. Lucky.

Gotta be back pain for me. Psyatica, (sp) couldnt really walk and when i could my left leg would just stop workin and down i would go, then tryin to get up. Also, jacked the back earlier this year at work, blown disc w2as inflammed because i guess the scholiosis that i didnt know about showed up, my back looked like one of those curvy road signs. Couldnt stand upright, felt like i got left behind on the evolution thing.
And the whackin your nails with metal things sucks good too. I piece of steel landed on my big toe, only the corner hit the toe, crap, did the pain dance for a week at work. The doc burned a hole in the nail and it squirted blood pretty good, felt a hundred times better but that nail is the nastiest lookin thing around.

Skatboarding I must been 15-16. I skated for a shop up on the east side (thayer) we're shooting some footage of us doing tricks for a shop video. I'm jumping from one parking level to one below it doing a 360 kickflip. Ran through it once no problem. Didnt get it on tape. I run through it again, half way through it, Im in the air board is flipping hit the bushes in between parking levels ( I was jumping from the top to the lower level) so the board hit bush and it stops, it pokes straight up and I take it on the nuts. There were parking meters in the bushes that had the meters chopped off.
