Well after a terrible start to my striper season which saw me missing almost a month because of surgey and just a off year at the Ditch I finally had a day. Nixed our MV trip because of the forecast so my buddy and I in his boat along with three other boats headed out of the canal towards Barnstable. Plan was to find fish and radio each other to help us out. Was at the ledge by 5 AM and there was already 50 boats there! We didn't mark anything so we headed a little further marking bait and bass and put out two identical tube and worm setups. Instintly I had a nice 25# and then another as soon as I reset the bait. Radioed the others and they moved down. Within two hours I had 7 keepers and about the same amount of blues while me host had not one fish! He finally tried some differrant tubes and started scoring. The bite slowed and we moved and picked a few more fish. The days final tally was 14 stripers (I caught ten!) to 34# and ten blues to 13#. Most of the stripers all keepers were 25+ and the blues were tiny except for two. The others had two or three keepers each and it seemed we were doing better than the 200 boats out there. We marked loads of bait and fish. These fish are not far from the Ditch and hopefully if the bait moves they will follow!

Nice job C-ratt! That's why fishing is so cool.
Just like one good fish can make a trip, one good day can turn a season around.
Any pics?

Good going canalratt1, sounds like you had a great day and you needed one :)
You can thank all tose days of North winds for the fish being there, and Tuesdaynite to Wed. nite the wind shifts back North again so maybe it's enough to hold the bait after these SW winds, and they will get in closer to shore soon:D
BIG fish, I like to hear that Tony. use those small blues for tuna bait;)

Good for you, nice to have a good day once in a while to keep the fire burning. While I didn't have one of your caliber, I did get out Sunday with my brother from Kaui, who I only see every 4 years or so when he's east, so that alone made it a successful day. Put him on 3 fish and he had fun, managed maybe 9 myself on what should have been a banner day (conditions wise), just slim pickings as usual. Still it was a great day.
