Headed out on Thurs with the Yankee Fleet out of gloucester

They say the cod bite has been good and good on jigs...

Anyone else got a report?

All I can say is they were right

My shoulders are REALLY sore today....
Nothing of size, but I brought at LEAST 40 cod into the boat. Doubles were not uncommon, and the haddock were cooperative as well.

The area was loaded with boats.
Ill bet this weekend it will be PACKED.

Best time to go.
Tourist season starts in four weeks.
How big was the pool winner and how far out did you have to go?

Hate you both. (I have 1 cod fillet left in the freezer.)
I have a trip booked beginning of June.
Can't get any time off before that.
Now because of this thread I'm going to have to dig out my jigs and my boat reels. Sharpen the hooks and PM the reels AGAIN.
Bastages.

Best of luck. Win the pool.

I didn't work saturdays trip, but got the report from my father.
Slow day on the bank - worked peaked hill to start - bait there but the fish aren't in there yet. Got a slow pick at some spots between there and the Bank - some shorts, but some decent fish too. Hit the haddock grounds east of the BE and that was pretty flat.
All told, 20 keeper Cod and about 1/2 again in haddock. Slow, but according to the radio, decent pick.
Good news, tons of herring and spike mackeral. Big whale show, even 2 pods of Right whales. One pod off Race point, and then a pair way down in the bay about a mile south of 1 CC. Coasties probably would have closed the canal had they seen them there.

Not before the first drop, but the night before.
I love it. Feel like I'm ten years old again.
My father allowing me to skip school to go fishing.
28 years later I still can't sleep the night before

I went out May 4th on a private charter out of Newburyport on the School's Out boat. We did pretty well on bait and jigs. Biggest haddock was around 7lbs and cod was around 12lbs. I took home about 20 lbs of fillets for the freezer.

A good time & something to cook afterwards are the only two indicators for a successful trip.
Winning the pool is a bonus.
My last pool winner was a whopping ten pound cod.
Looks like this year will be more of the same.
