View Full Version : Kid friendly Vineyard charters?
ThrowingTimber 05-01-2007, 09:20 AM Can anyone recommend any? We're thinking of taking Candi's girls out for a full or half day of fishing they're young so fluke and seabass is fine. Striped ones would be a plus. I've got them in spring training catching bluegill and largemouf' like its goin' outta style. Any help with this would be great. :)
Rip Runner 05-01-2007, 10:11 AM How old are the kids? Have they boat fished before?
King Neptune 05-01-2007, 10:16 AM Not sure about the Vineyard, but if Falmouth is OK, try Capt. Bob with Lemke Ann charters. He specializes in fluke & seabass. He just bought a brand new Carolina Classic 28. He's a good guy and good with kids. The Patriot Party boat out of Falmouth Harbor runs bottomfishing trips in Vineyard sound as well. Also, the guy from Blue Fin charters (Brian) in Falmouth Harbor is offering bottomfishing trips this year. He seems like a nice guy, but I admit I've never fished with him.
Gloucester2 05-01-2007, 10:39 AM Vic - here is a good option from the Vineyard
They fish the same shoal water as Patriot Too - mostly drifting for scup, seabass and a few fluke. Good afternoon for the kids.

ThrowingTimber 05-01-2007, 11:06 AM Awesome thanks for the information guys! The girls are 7 and 10.
TT, if you are not stuck on the vineyard and want to split a boat drop me a pm. I am looking to take my two daughters out but don't want to do the party boat as it would be too much for them. They are 7 and 8.5 so a half day would be it.
If anyone has a decent schoolie spot for kids feel free to pm me. My youngests birthday is this month and she has been hounding me to take her fishing.

MakoMike 05-01-2007, 11:49 AM Vic,
If it doesn't have to be on Martha's let me know. I can take you out whenever you would like. Once the scup and sea bass get on the west side of BI, I'll guarantee you the kids will have a blast!
ThrowingTimber 05-01-2007, 02:09 PM Appreciate it thank you Mike! I'll get brew and gas :btu:
Tim, we're taking the girls to MV with us this year so I'm trying to put stuff together for them to keep them interested. Apparently they like fishing :)
NP....give me/us an update on the boat and experience as I am sure to get over there with them.
fishpoopoo 05-01-2007, 02:37 PM Victor,
If you're on the Vineyard in the Edgartown area, just hit the town dock with some bottom fishing gear and squid. Non-stop scup and sea-robin action for kids.
ThrowingTimber 05-02-2007, 12:11 PM Good call! Yeah right next to the ontime they were doing well last year. I couldnt resist I had to make a few drops :hihi:
Mr. Sandman 05-03-2007, 06:28 AM I know a few guys that can help you out if you are on the vineyard and want to go fishing. It depends what you want to do exactly. It the kids are real little and new to boating I would stay in the sound and bottom fish. It is short attention span theater there and you have a shot at a big fluke, sea bass, scup, bluefish and a possible bass and of course our endangered dogfish. PM me if you want details. Let me know what you have in mind...(ie inshore bottom or trolling squibby or fishing wasque rips)
I have my ticket but I don't do charters...maybe when I retire and my kids go off to school. But I know of most of the charter guys on island. (boat and shore guides)
