when i first heard some radio sound coming
from that on mini head phones i was amazed
and have been fascinated with it ever since.

I did that ,too , crystal radio. No batterys. Just when I got it working my younger brother Bob knocked something over and crushed the toilet paper tube tuner. I laugh about it now, but Bob had to run for his life then..
