Just took a look at the hull truth and it's now owned by Internet Brands.

I wonder what it sold for?

interesting. i thought that wiley was the sole owner. if so i bet he made some cake. maybe they will calm down the google ads.... man are they annoying. i dont mind the sides or above but its plastered in all the content of every forum. YUCK

It must have been a tough decision. I think of the hours I spend doing S-B. Wiley does 15 times the daily traffic that we do here. I can't make a living here but he should have been able to turn a decent monthly chunk... I'd be surprised if he pulled in less than 100K for THT

There are tradeoffs though, trying to do the best by way of the community and trying to make more that Fry-O-Lator wages...

Selling now was the best move. Things are splintering....

John, I couldn't help but think of you reading between the lines of wileys posts. Make it a priority to smell the roses, as much as I like this site, the thought of you missing out on family/fishing/fun ain't worth it IMHO.

agreed! i just read the entire wiley post.

its amazing how at its most simple form, text and images, can become such and undertaking.

John, have you ever considered doing a "wheel" type incentive for this site.? I never donated to the hull truth because I post so infrequently but It might ease the burden (if you want to call it that) of maintaining this site. And it kind of takes the awkwardness out of asking for money.

Hehehehe - I get to smell a lot of roses because of this site and meet a lot of great people I would otherwise never have met. Even outside of fishing, I've learned here to make me a better person and a better dad!

I have considered doing a Wheel type thing and have been considering it for a while. As with anything else I do I want to try to balance and do what's best for the community here. How do I reward the community for their support? What do I bring on to make this site better and not trash it? Oooohhhh dilemmas dilemmas :wall: :tooth:

i can't and won't speak for everyone but having a snappy site that never returns a database error and is up 99.9% of the time is reward enough for the guy who comes on a few times a day to post whats hapenin IMO.

maybe an anonymous poll for your community based tribulations? i dunno, thats a tough one, your right.
