Rockport24 05-31-2007, 01:23 PM Wow what a fish! and nicely played on the thread title Mr. Buggar Uncle Matt 05-31-2007, 02:03 PM That will get the blood pumping. Holy cannoli Batman! capecodkid 05-31-2007, 02:14 PM That is one BIG Fish partsjay 05-31-2007, 02:24 PM That would work.....nice fish!! Fish On 05-31-2007, 02:26 PM Wawawow! Nice fish! Also, congrats on the 2nd place shore blue Mr. Sandman. bart 05-31-2007, 03:12 PM that is most definitely a slob zacs 05-31-2007, 03:21 PM that fish could eat a slob for breakfast. that is a HOG. MarshCappa 05-31-2007, 03:26 PM I got to get a place on one of the islands. That's awesome! numbskull 05-31-2007, 04:17 PM Beautiful fish, but I'd feel better knowing it was still swimming out there. Sounded like the guy who caught it would have as well, but the guy with the boat got caught up in the glory of it all. Mr. Sandman 05-31-2007, 04:28 PM David knows where the big ones swim. Heard about it the next morning but didn't want to say anything. There are a few more left out there. Got bait? Gunpowder 05-31-2007, 04:37 PM Beautiful fish, but I'd feel better knowing it was still swimming out there. Sounded like the guy who caught it would have as well, but the guy with the boat got caught up in the glory of it all. i feel the same way. i woulda loved to kno it was still swimmin out there too. but i guess theres two ways to look at it. 1. wat would u do if that was u that caught it (think veryyyyy hard on that one and you goes for everyone) and 2. a fish of that size has got to be in the 20 yr. old range and is probably on final few seasons. but ure right, big bass spawn more eggs than there 30 pound girlfriends so its def a tough call. Mr. Sandman 05-31-2007, 05:01 PM You guys crack me up. I doubt any of you would release a 60. Second, I think these big old fish don't have has many ripe eggs as you think. I would rather have a spawning mass of lots of 20-30#ers then rely on a few old fish with stale eggs. Just like a 20 year old women is better to bear children then a 60 year old grandma. Fish are the same. Older fish have more eggs but many are dead. If you have ever looked at the eggs of a 50+ # fish you will see that most of them are not the vibrant pink/orange color of the 20#ers...they are more brown. Most of them are dead. Nothing wrong with taking a big fish IMO. She did her duty. Personally, While I release a lot of fish, a personal best stays with me. Besides...the comm guys would have kept it after first weighing it in for the striper cup. If you caught a 80#er would you release it? Hell no! Don't be a hypocrite. Slingah 05-31-2007, 05:05 PM I'd keep it, mount it...and brag about it for the rest of my life :) now that is a slob... Gunpowder 05-31-2007, 05:25 PM You guys crack me up. I doubt any of you would release a 60. dont worry i didnt even release my 47.75 pounder. in fact, i had her skin mounted and she sleeps above me every night much to my girl friends disliking. apparently, the fish gets more kisses goodnight than my gf but whose counting???? :lm: LeCounts1099 05-31-2007, 05:53 PM I understand they wanted to release the fish, but feared it wouldn't make it... I did release my boat 49.5 lber... but will keep & mount my first surf- caught "50" for sure! striperman36 05-31-2007, 07:28 PM Huge fish around. Maybe by Sept there may be a 70 among us. It doesn't look bigger than the 51 on my boat last week numbskull 05-31-2007, 08:08 PM If keeping a big fish makes you feel better about yourself than releasing it, then that's your business. If not, then let it go. bart 05-31-2007, 09:59 PM why does it have to be like that? you work your ass off for the fish of a lifetime, why not keep it? it has laid many, many eggs. a 60 pounder has done its job for the striped bass population as far as i'm concerned.... EricM 06-01-2007, 01:31 AM Across the 60lb barrier indeed qualifies that fish to be called a slob In The Surf 06-01-2007, 12:41 PM It sure is, nice fish Jim! :musc: Squibby17 06-01-2007, 02:08 PM What a hog. I hope this big fish trend continues I'm still looking for my first 40 lber let alone a 60!! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
