I've fished from origional wooden Surf Hunters and Mackenzie's

Anyone been on a NEW Surf Hunter yet?

They look to be great boats, but don't have that signature console up on the deck (although im sure they'd gladly throw one up there for the right price).

If they are what the origionals were... I just might have to get rid of my Boat :D

Cheers

Have you found any info online and have a link? I'd like to take a look at a traditional buzzards bay bass boat...

There was an article in OTW last year I think on the revival of some of the Mattapoiset area bass boat builders. Maybe there is something online on http://onthewater.com

http://huntyachts.boats.com/

http://www.crhunt.com/

Those are the two links I've found so far, there was an article floating around about them being built again in one of the powerboat magazines... (I'd like to say Powerboat Magazine)

Both the old man and I drooled madly on sight. ;)

Speaking of onthewater...
do a search in their classified's for 'surfhunter'
there's one there.... but i'd never go near wood...
*horrible visions of working on boat till july*

FYI John...

I got on a new Surf Hunter the other day for a ride...

All I can say is WOW!

They're a bit heavier (don't ask) than the wood Hunters... but its definitely everything that the classic was and MORE...

You can talk about a dozen different center console and boats with houses or walkarounds etc.

But they'll NEVER match up to a real Buzzards Bay bass boat..

:)

Very dry, nice low stern, dosen't take too much water backing down hard (which has always been a concern of mine after an incident a few years ago), very shallow draft, would definitely go with a jet drive or IO with one (jet drive being wonderful up in the Cuttyhunk boulders), just a very pretty, clean boat.
