Spare Spool 08-08-2002, 07:23 PM Oh Man, I have to get a boat! :(
JohnR 08-08-2002, 07:40 PM SOtB - We still gotta surf fish together before the boats...
JohnR 08-08-2002, 08:33 PM updated....
http://www.striped-bass.com/boatradio.shtml
Spare Spool 08-08-2002, 08:50 PM John, I agree wholeheartedly. I think I am a surfcaster at heart. I have both race and nauset permits, so we'll go in the fall definitely. When are the next legs by the way?
JohnR 08-09-2002, 08:48 AM Workin' on it. Trying to see what my work schedule is as we move our company to new facilites as well as Cuttyhunk. I think I should be present for any S-B gatherings ;) ...
We'll likely have a Mass one in Sept and the Rhody in October....
I printed the list and noticed that there are mostly members screen names on the list, not their REAL names.
Do people NOT want their real first name on the list.
It's kinda wierd to call people by their boat name while talking on the radio. Of the friends I have on the water, we use the vessel name to contact each other then use our own names.
Just a thought.
denis 08-12-2002, 08:53 PM VAN
AGREE USE REAL NAMES.
JohnR 08-13-2002, 08:06 AM OK - if anyone wants their real name added on the list, follow up here...
Brooksie 08-13-2002, 09:05 AM Brian Brooks
John,
The listing looks really good. I am going to print it and keep it on the boat. You can list my name if you like.

And Van, aren't you being a bit presumptious that we consider you a "friend"... personally I just want to use all of you for fishing info.

Clammer 05-19-2003, 10:33 PM Bob Senior how do you like that boat, I looked at it twice last year & really liked it , but for only alittle more money I purched what I felt was more boat/
JohnR we better be careful ,some of these boats are local :D :D :D :D
Bob Senior 05-20-2003, 10:44 AM CD:
I really like it a lot. I like the thick aluminum hull most. It's a little lighter than glass and everything's accessible under the deck and gunwales. I put a t-top and a custom leaning post on it, have plenty of storage, and it's dry as a bone with that deep-V and flared bow. And the Suzuki 4-stroke is great, so far. 179 has one too (a Suzuki).
Couldn't be happier. After tearing up a Trophy last summer I wanted to try a non-glass rig.
The only thing I don't like about it is the Furuno LS6100 I put in it. I was gonna get the Garmin 320C, but no one had them in stock when I was installing stuff. So I fell back to the much cheaper B&W LS6100--I don't like it. I did get the Garmin GPS MAP 182C, which is a fantastic toy.
I got it at the PVD show. I went that day to buy the Scout 202 for around $30K. Instead, went to the BOATS booth and got this for $19K.
Clammer 05-20-2003, 10:54 AM good luck with it I really liked it & I wanted the 130
But
I have the Sitex Pro_3 F.F don,t really care for it
I think I have the Garmin 182c also =I suck with numbers ==========the expanded chip,, color, too mant features/////////////////////////////

Channel: Do I need a radio for this? Can it be FM? I have one with a CD player is that okay?
Bob Sr.
That's a sharp looking Aluminum boat you got there, and if the price was $19k it was a very good deal. You should post a pic of it in here. How's the Suzuki treating you?

Whether required or not you'd be crazy not to have one with you. If the boat is small and mostly open, get a handheld.
Handheld GPS would be a good idea too. Always have a cell phone with ya too !!!! Helped me one day when electric trouble popped the radio fuse....Good Luck
