Going Tuesday, and want to give the new livewell setup a real test. I found a few baits last week at the east end of the Canal, but thin. Last tues found nothing off the Gurnet, has anyone seen them thick anywhere as of late? I know the blues are pushing them a bit, but are they still on the south shore in any kind of reasonable numbers? Thanks.

#$*%^(#@ bluefish are showing up all the way up here in Boston.
IMO,,,,macks will be few and far between.

If I don't hear something positive I'll go south for scup or pogies, but I was hoping to give the macks another shot...even if I have to launch from Scituate or Weymouth...thanks though.

I'm on vacation this week, as soon as the weather calms I'll be back out there looking for them again.

Found some yesterday just off of graves light. They were hitting little Yozuri plugs. Wasn't able to get any vertical jigging.

If you are willing to travel a distance as we have been the past days,
There are TONS of macs still out there.
I won't be specific but we went way south today and found acres of smaller macs, fished them south also!
Capt mike, our dock friend Jack and and myself on the Ave Maria 2 exploring and fishing for ourselves for the day.
The tally for the day
4 fish just over 35lbs each
12 other large fish , smallest was 35in others up to 30 lbs
and some good size blue fish in the mix.
All but 1 bass (that took the hook too deep and wouldn't have made it)
were revived and released!

I was out the east end last night. A few macks at the dumping ground. No macks at the fingers or east end or BH bouy. Striper fishing was slow also. A few keepers off Billingsgate

i had never tried jigging a sabiki rig before, and on wednesday i brought a few out with me to try and grab some mackerel. In about 5 seconds, i had what i think was a pollock. On my second attempt, it took about 5 minutes but I hooked 2 mackerel at once. Dumb luck, or are the mackerel not as hard to find as people are saying?? And, how should i rig the live mackerel? I've been reading a lot and it seems like trolling them works well, but I can't find a guide to rigging them to be trolled. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

sabiki near the docks under the lights pre-dawn has been successful. Also hear of some outside B'town harbor. Good luck.
