I would disagree with you on size but what's the point. Bill has eclipsed mere mortal status.
I would like to know how many guys have caught a 50 and a 60 within 4 days of each other.

These "Big Breeders" are basicly on the end of there breeding/life cycle or steril. You want to complain, complain about the 28 inch breeders that have 20 years of breeding left to-do.:faga:

JohnR 06-14-2007, 03:16 PM Guys & gals - lets please discuss the question or whether or not to keep a bass or its feducity (sp?) in a different discussion. It is nothing negative or anything that cannot or should not be discussed but threads like this often have this thread-hijack when instead that very topic can and should be discussed in another thread as it makes great discussion to see how the viewpoints come out :btu: ...
Thanks!
John

are you still going to mount the 51?
If it were me, at this point I would probably contact a super high end taxidermist, and see if they could make mount with both fish chasing after a pogie. you obviously know where to find the pogie to supply the taxidermist! It would probably cost $$$$, but so worth it.
By far the best accomplishment I know of in this sport that obsesses us.
Congratulations!

Circlehook 06-14-2007, 10:31 PM So, if my calculations are correct, you will land a 100lb 7oz stripper by July 3rd.
Squibby17 06-14-2007, 11:16 PM What a week. A once in a life time fish. I know you worked hard for it. Mid June isn't a bad time to fish. Didn't Charlie Cinto catch his June 12-15th?
eelman 06-15-2007, 03:05 AM Thank you very much Men! I am still in a fog over this fish! I feel blessed to be fortunate enough that it decided to inhale my bait. We are all blessed with a mother load of fish this year along with the bait to sustain it.
As for what happened? Talking with Jim, he had a hunch that the night bite was heating up and that chunks were the way to go. I was reluctant to give up my daytime livelineing routine but decided to give it a try, after all when A guy like Jim White has a hunch, you listen! We boarded his boat and headed to a spot that has been great for him since the 70s and it was that long ago the last time he had seen fishing this good. Jimmy has that "thing" very few fisherman have, you cant put your finger on it but he has "it" a gut instinct an intuition a sniff of the wind a feeling that tells him something is about to happen. As most of you know, I can count my true friends on one hand and Jimmy is on there, I have loads of respect for him and when he talks I listen. We anchored up in the spot and began to cut up fresh chunks, we had action right away with Jim landing a beuty of about 40lbs, we had several in the teens etc....I was holding my rod and intensly waiting for the next pickup...This fish hit, but it wasnt violent just a steady runoff and then the fish stoped, I set the hook and said to jim it felt like I hooked bottom or a pot of rope etc...it did not feel like a fish, I began to reel it in and swore I had bouy because there was not much of a fight, fish came in rather quikly, when Jim saw it at the boat he looked at me with a huge grin, I said what? he says "Billy, you are not going to beleve this fish" I peaked over the rail and almost had a heart attack, Jim grabded the fish and braught it in, the fish had swallowed the hook deep, which explains why it did not fight much, the rest is history. Jim and I had a great night together and I wont forget it for the rest of my life!
I have Jim to thank for that fish because I had no intention of fishing that night, a 50 earlier in the week made me happy enough, Alot of my success is due to people Like Jim, who have helped me imensly transition from the surf to a boat, Jim is one of the best fisherman I know, I am gratefull that he calls me friend and As I said before I respect him as a fisherman, captain and person. Jim pulls no punches and tells it like it is...I spend alot of time on the water and fish close to jim and we talk to each other alot, it helps to have a close knit group of a couple people covering all the bases.
If any of you guys want a memorable trip on the water, I would suggest a trip with him, you will learn so much in that trip that it is priceless, Jim will not only show you what it takes to land big bass constantly but listening to him about striper history is worth the price of the trip alone...Jim is booked thru the 2009 season (and for good reason) so get ahold of him...you will not be disapointed..I dont care how good you are or think you are, a trip with Jim is a treat. His boat is a Triton with all the toys and the name is "WhiteGhost guide service" He has 17 years guiding on the Bay !
So, agian, we are blessed with the mother load of bait and bass this year...For you surf guys, give it time the fish will drop out and your time will come..:wiggle:

Katie 06-15-2007, 05:09 AM holy shizzle thats amazing!! i envy you!
piemma 06-15-2007, 05:25 AM What really absolutely amazes me is 2 fish that size in the same week.
I have over 40 years chasing Bass and I cannot recall anyone, boat or surf, getting a 50 and a 60 in the same week.
Bank in the early 70's (the good old days, ha, ha) when there were a lot of big fish, I don't remember this happening. 2, 50s YES! Back to back 40 and 50 YES! A 50 and a 60, back to back, not that I can remember.
When you consider all the factors that have to be included and how everything has to go exactly right, it's a mind blower.
The one downside, which I have spoken to Bill about, at length, is,
Where do you go from here? How do you top this? Do you loose the "fire in the belly, the eye of the tiger"?
I once knew a guy on the Block back in the early 80s that got a 64 at the Poop Shute one night. He hung up his rods and never fished again. Said "I'll just never top this".
Double edged sword, perhaps?
Striperhound 06-15-2007, 05:26 AM we are not worthy, lifetime fish Bill, enjoy! :jump:

Paul,
Like we were discussing the other day, a fish like this was likely to be caught by one of you guys. With the fish carrying good weight, it wouldn't surprise me to see more of them in this class taken, hopefully by you guys. Either way, 60# is a lifetime fish, you just don't see many of them, regardless of what year it is. Last year there were none documented on the entire striper coast that I know of. Keep taking advantage of them while they're around.
Awesome fish, Bill.
Roger 06-15-2007, 06:17 AM Unbelievable! Outstanding! A testament to a very talented fisherman that puts in the time and learns quickly.:kewl:
But... you might want to buy a few lottery ticket this week too...:bl:

You are right Mike. There are an awful lot of large around. I have never seen it this good. A morning with 4 fish in the mid to high 20's is just and "average" morning lately. A 30 just about raises and eyebrow. Just amazing.
I wonder about the long term effect on the population with this many large being caught. Most are bing released but I believe there is still a statistical mortality that has to be taken into account. We will find out soon enough.
Where's that Baby????
MakoMike 06-15-2007, 06:47 AM Congrats Bill, man you're on fire! Keep at it, the 70 might be next! Don't forget to get me the pics!
