Quick question for taking young kids, 5-7 years old, fishing around Narragansett Bay. Where would you go for worms for Scup, Choggies, Sea Bass, and other smaller fish for the little guys? Easier places such as perhaps a pier, or safe seawall, etc...

I take my son to some places for other fish but I was asked by someone else for suggestions to take her grandson fishing...

Thanks!

John

Not quite an answer to Johns question, but............last week I was on vacation. Me and Squid Kids Dad were at South Cape fending off two-pound blues. During this time a guy from South Carolina and his 8 year old come over and start talking to me. They always talk to me, ( and everyone at work says I'm so unfriendly), and I am explaining how fishing is slow and this eight year old is telling me to have patience. To make a long story short Mike hooked up and I asked him to let the kid reel it in. It was the highlight of my weeks worth of not many fish watching this little kid busting his butt reeling in the three pound bloofish. The boy and his dad were very appreciative.

Couple of places I took my kids all the time to Jamestown. In the harbor they had a dedicated fish dock in the harbor and you could get ice cream at spinnakers after. Also the DEM building at Fort Wetherall or the dock at Fort Getty. Always had lots of scup, choggies, fluke and the occasional fluke. Bring a little flounder chum put and the catching goes way up.

I tell ya I miss the days of the Melville pier. You could catch everything there. And there was enough room for everyone. These days any place that has easy access and parking is a zoo.
