Rick what makes the flat faced any harder to work along a beach or at slack? I prefer the canal special since some of my pencils sink and the sloped flat face helps it get up top and walking faster. rickhern 06-17-2007, 06:39 PM Canal specials are weighted for casting distance and sink slowly, as you know. The flat bottom makes it easier to get a sinking plug on the surface. For me, it is much easier to work a pencil with lots of back to back motion, but little forward motion, with a standard pencil in areas where I don't have current helping me keep it on top. Not a huge deal, you can make both work in either situation, just what works best for me. RickBomba 06-18-2007, 01:34 AM OOOH, Slip...thought you were making me one of those flat-botomed beauties??? Flat-bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round! NIB 06-18-2007, 06:00 AM I have a few pencils. I mostly prefer the shaved/canal bottoms. Slips pencils are Nice.
