View Full Version : quonset air show - this weekend
RIJIMMY 06-18-2007, 12:17 PM If all goes well, my boat should be in ready to go Saturday.
I plan on taking the family out Sat and/or Sunday for their initial voyage. I just noticed that the Quonset Air Show is goign on this weekend. My slip is very close to quonset. It would be wild to watch from the water, I assume that some of the action occures over the bay? I never went but figured there would be some good viewing from a boat. Anyone ever watch this from a boat?
MakoMike 06-18-2007, 01:16 PM Lots of people watch it from their boats. You should plan on getting there early if you want to anchor in a good spot. They fly right over my house and my slip, so I'll see them one way or the other.
RIJIMMY 06-18-2007, 01:43 PM I plan on hoooking a 30lber right when the blue angels fly over for their grand finale.
parker23 06-18-2007, 04:49 PM there are absolutely no fish in the quonset area. Watch out for the drunks in the go-fast boats after the show. The bay turns into a frenzy of idiots heading home.

I have been many times on the sailboat. you have a nice easy ride of about 1 minute home. it will be fine. i wouldn't go for a bay cruise afterwards, though.

fish4striper 06-19-2007, 07:02 AM Hey Zac,
How early do you have to go to get a decent anchor spot for the folk or jazz?

LOL.... I'll be there with my wife!!!!
Hey Zac,
How early do you have to go to get a decent anchor spot for the folk or jazz?
depends on size of boat & weather. If it is super nice out you will have to get there very early. If you have a smaller boat, 19' or smaller, and you are competent with the anchor, you can usually sneak in at any point, though....
