View Full Version : World Record Striper Mount - For Sale
NIGHT STRIKES 06-26-2007, 12:52 PM I thought you guys might find this interesting, a local bait & tackle shop by me is selling the originial mount of Al McReynolds record 78.8lb Striper with signed docs from the taxidermist who in fact just reconditioned it back in 04/05..
Asking Price is $20,000.00 or/and accepting serious offers....
On the sidenote - rumor has it that Al sold it along with the entire contents of his attic for $2000.00 years ago
Also at this time donations are being taken up for the possibility of it being donated to the IGFA Museum...
Your Thoughts ?????
BrianS 06-26-2007, 12:58 PM $ 20,000
buys the gear and the means to make a serious run at your own world record... and at the VERY least youll have a HELL of alot more fun doing it than staring at a mounted fish
Skitterpop 06-26-2007, 01:06 PM 20,000 dollar piece of junk :rollem:
striperman36 06-26-2007, 01:09 PM I am happy to hear that the mount was refurbished. I hadn't seen it in a few years, it needed a rehab.
Unfortunately, 20K is too much.
I hope it makes it to the IGFA. Sure somebody would drive it if need be.
Rick Ackley 06-26-2007, 01:09 PM Maybe he should donate it to the Museum, and try to claim the $20K on his taxes? That should raise an audit issue.
reebok 06-26-2007, 05:58 PM I seem to remember in the recent Salt Water Angler interview with Al McReynolds he said the fish disappeared around the time he caught it.
nightfighter 06-26-2007, 06:15 PM hmmmm......used sweet 20' Grady?.....or mounted fish with history......20 grand for the mount???? you gotta be kidding me. I would be interested to see what they would get with a 7500 reserve on Ebay.....
numbskull 06-26-2007, 06:33 PM Not that I like them, but the Bass Pro shop opening in Foxboro would be very wise to buy it. 20,000 would seem a small price considering the publicity and increased store traffic it would get them.
Squid kids Dad 06-26-2007, 07:59 PM $20,000..yikes
ChiefLinesider 06-26-2007, 08:51 PM ill trade you some plugs :bshake:

There has been so many stories, rumors & lies about the entire saga of this fish over the years.. I guess this is just another chapter here in regards to this mount..
I've seen I believe a replica of it over at the old Campbell Marine heading into Margate and it was quite a site....
Worth 20k,, I think not.......
Swimmer 06-27-2007, 11:36 AM Is that collectible, not. I wouldn't want a mounted fish in my house that I didn't catch.
EarnedStripes44 06-27-2007, 11:43 AM 20K - I'd rather buy a boat
MakoMike 06-27-2007, 04:15 PM Wasn't Mc Reynolds on here a year or two ago, telling his version of how everything went down?

yes
If I recall the story correctly, he caught quite a few large fish that week (60+ lbs) also,
so did his son and daughter

Exactly! It'll get more exposure there than anywhere else that I can see..

Mid-Upper Teen Size TideRunners Also...
keeperreaper 06-28-2007, 10:11 PM Never bought the story and never will buy the mount. 20K is ridiculous. Good luck with that price tag.
