when the Unites states constitution was written it was during a time

when the chief mode of transportation was a sailing vessel or via horses
on land...

so ...now that we have super sonic air craft ....and we are venturing into space...

perhaps it's time to draft a planetary constitution...

similar to what the star trek federation of planets on tv says...

enforcing it though is obviously a whole different matter...
~

we have that in place now... bill of rights... humanitarian laws

it's all there.. only it has to become known as planetary law

or planet Earth law...

It started long before that, and as long as you all believe this, you're doomed to repeat history. Over and over and over.

Civilians reported killed by military intervention in Iraq
Min: 66500 Max: 72800

Are you happy yet?

And on the winning hearts and minds front:

Friday 22 June:

Khalis: the US military announces that its attack helicopters, armed
with missiles, have engaged and killed 17 al-Qaeda gunmen who had been trying to
infiltrate the village of al-Khalis, north of Baquba, where operation
"Arrowhead Ripper" had been under way for the previous three days.

But villagers in largely-Shia al-Khalis say that those who died had nothing
to do with al-Qaeda. They say they were local village guards trying to
protect the township from exactly the kind of attack by insurgents the US
military says it foiled.
They say that of 16 guards, 11 were killed and five others injured - two of
them seriously - when US helicopters fired rockets at them and then strafed
them with heavy machinegun fire.
Minutes before the attack, they had been co-operating with an Iraqi police
unit raiding a suspected insurgent hideout, the villagers said.
They added that the guards, lightly armed with the AK47 assault rifles that
are a feature of practically every home in Iraq, were essentially a local
neighbourhood watch paid by the village to monitor the dangerous
insurgent-ridden area to the immediate south-west at Arab Shawkeh and
Hibhib.

THE VICTIMS
Jassem Khalil, the Mukhtar of Hayy al-Junoud; Abbas Khalil, his brother; Ali Khalil, his other brother; Kamal Hadi, their cousin;
Shaker Adnan; Abdul Wahhab Ibrahim; Mohammad al-Zubaie; Abbas Muzhir Fadhel; Jamal Hussein Alwan; Abdul Hussein Abdullah; Ali Jawad Kadhem

Can someone point out to me where in the Constitution it covers countries outside of the US, Wars on foreign soils, treatment of prisoners of war etc. I thought, and I must be wrong, that the US CONSTITUTION covers The United States of America, and it's Citizens on this soil and not abroad.

And on the winning hearts and minds front:

Just out of curiosity, have you ever been in the military, LEO, a shootout, or anything that would qualify you to know exactly what was going on when these "innocent" people were fired upon. People are always quick to jump to conclusions without walking in the other persons shoes. Unfortunately innocent civillians getting killed in military ops has and will always be part of the price of doing business, no matter who's side you are on.

The better question is, has she?
I mean that's getting forwarded all over the internet, so you might as well make sure your source has.

Its easy to send an e-mail, its hard to stand up and question whats going on. Standing by and accepting what happens in the world is ignorant and foolish.

Go ahead, call me unamerican, call me a traitor, call me what you want, but if it wasn't for a bunch of people who questioned who was running the show, and didn't like what they were being forced to do or be, you wouldn't be here.

Whether or not she was has no bearing, all she is saying is that no matter what the troops are doing, they are in a %$%$%$%$ty situation, and anything they have done is not nearly half as bad as what those puke ass mother %$%$%$%$ing cowards did on 9-11, and she does'nt want you to forget that. Whether you agree with her or not, she makes a valid ploint that as the years have passed people in this country seem to forget. Whether you agree with the war, or the way it was started, who started it, does'nt mean anything, sure maybe there was'nt any Al Quaeda link back then, but you can't deny they are there now and that is who we are fighting

Now back to my question, you guys throw around the constitution stuff all of the time, so show me the section that cover non US citizens on foreign soil.

Likwid maybe you should stop believing everything you read...

Saudi Arabia prohibits public non-Muslim religious activities. Non-Muslim worshipers risk arrest, imprisonment, lashing, deportation, and sometimes torture for engaging in overt religious activity that attracts official attention.

The Government has stated publicly, including before the U.N. Committee on Human Rights in Geneva, that its policy is to protect the right of non-Muslims to worship privately. However, non-Muslim organizations have claimed that there are no explicit guidelines for distinguishing between public and private worship, such as the number of persons permitted to attend and the types of locations that are acceptable. Such lack of clarity, as well as instances of arbitrary enforcement by the authorities, obliges most non-Muslims to worship in such a manner as to avoid discovery. Those detained for non-Muslim worship almost always are deported by authorities after sometimes lengthy periods of arrest during investigation. In some cases, they also are sentenced to receive lashes prior to deportation.

By the way this was taken from Wikipedia, and as you can see they torture you for practicing religion, as least we do it for intell to protect the populace...

So I say yes it is ok for our military to torture combatants, they cut off Nick Berg's head while he was alive and kicking is that not torture. They did the same to Daniel Pearl is that not torture/ By the way they were not military but civilians, one reporting on the war, the other a businessman setting up telecomm work. But I guess it is ok for the fundamentalist to torture and kill civillians

have any of you tried to wage war agianst a family of beavers?? you tear the damn down and they will build it back the next night...they will never stop until they die or you give in... there are millions of beavers in the middle east that will stop at nothing to get their way....

And just for the record it was obvious that this was going to happen and i wonder if the current administrations advisors wanted his to happen to get the $$$ flowing into the places that they wanted it to go to.. miltary spending, haliburton, etc...

in the end though we are there and we are f-ed if we pull out too early- its eather stay forever and create a nation similar to palestine with massive Gaza Strip like areas or just cut em loose and let them fight with themselves for eternity.

the stickler is that they have oil that we need. That is the real reason we are there.. we did not go there to steal it, we went there to secure it and make sure no one else could use it....

I think I'm gonna start a "doesn't anyone remember Vietnam?" chain letter.

I remember Vietnam and all my friends serving over there. I knew a few who died and many more that were disabled and still are. I remember that when Kennedy took office there were somewhere around 20,000 troops there. I also remember the "liberal democrats" escalating or troop surging up to 565,000 troops over the next several years. Even though there were secret negotiations to get our tropps out.

Ah John Kerry, three months in country, three purple hearts and a silver star. Kerry wrote his own reccomendations for all three awards. But I digress. If I go on I'll be hijacking the post.
