I notice LOTS of the commercial lobster boats in my area have been setting their trawls in the deep water of the rivers up my way !

what's the best depth? I have three I'm putting out this weekend and they have 50' of line on each. Is that enough? I was told to try about 35' of water. Any thoughts?

I just returned from a lobster dive. One keeper. Seemed to be plenty around. Didn't get to look to much as we were retrieving some pots that were snarled in the rocks for a lobster man friend. He reports this is the worst spring season he has had after the best season yet last year but it is just now starting to improve.

I have done two lobsta dives in the last three weeks and taken 21....

They are in and they are big. Only picked up one "egger" in the bunch. Also most were hard shell..

3 keepers yesterday...i try to put my pots relatively shallow as I pull them all by hand. i will be doing a dive tom. have found a few with that bacterial infection that decalcifies their shell. put one in the pot yesterday...ugly but still tasty.

To answer the line length question. Line length should be twice the depth distance. Thats how it was explained to me years ago when I had mine. Do you guys lay them north/south? That was also exlained to me by a commercial guys.

its slow on the inside. loading the traps with fresh bunker and taking them to deeper water soon.

I'm planning on doing some lobster diving (snorkel).
I have a few jetties picked out that look promising.

I'm good with the line length and I'm in the inner harbor which was posted is slow...so I'll see Saturday when I retrieve.

What's the north/south theory?
