For Striped Bass. What would be a "rough" estimate in yards, installing 30lb mono to a Tide Water reel ?
Would 40lb Big Game be too much weight ?

Would 40lb Big Game be too much weight ? spence 06-30-2007, 08:33 AM There should be a line chart on the reel or with the manual if you have it. 40 pound mono seems pretty heavy unless you're really fishing a bad area. I never go over 20 on a spinner, too much more and you can't cast shyte. The exception may be if you're ch#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g bait. -spence danno1 06-30-2007, 08:46 AM It says Line Capacity 20lb@ 330yds. Should I use the 20lb. And how many yards ? spence 06-30-2007, 08:52 AM If you're plugging or eeling I'd stick with 20 lbs. I'd suggest about 330 yards :lasso: :bl: -spence danno1 06-30-2007, 08:52 AM Mostly chunking. spence 06-30-2007, 09:11 AM Maybe 25 or 30 then. No need to go higher unless you're slinging huge lead or going to really be abusing your line. Why do you need to know how much? Just fill it... -spence danno1 06-30-2007, 09:13 AM Just curious. Would also be livelining. fishaholic18 06-30-2007, 09:34 AM For Striped Bass. What would be a "rough" estimate in yards, installing 30lb mono to a Tide Water reel ?
