Looking for any help for using the dirt ramp at Gooseberry Point. I will be using a tin boat so launching and retrieving is no problem as far as tide goes. Really interested in any parking issues like how many are able to park and if you need a sticker and such. I know it is rocky so I will have to be careful too. Thanks. Paul

Thanks. Dirt is ok with me and I can drag my boat out in 6 inches of water, I have 4 wheel drive. I will drag it thru dry ground if I have too, it is a beater, and dusk to dawn works for me too.

Paul there is concrete under the sand. I wouldn't launch anything bigger than a skiff there. There are a couple boulders SO-SE of the ramp so be careful. Gate gets locked around 8:00.

Sundown and the time they close the gate are not necessarily one in the same sometimes there...
They seem to really be on the warpath with the gate locking for some reason lately. They WILL leave you locked in there for the night...

Paul get there early I was there Saturday and lets just say the beach goers had parked in all the boat trailer spots, cops didn't seem to care even though there was a sign that said they would be tagged.

Hi Professor,
Those “gatekeepers” can be anal. This is one of the reasons I stopped fishing from the shore. Gooseberry is one of my favorite spots. You can’t count on the gate being open and being closed at the times specified. If there is any water spraying over the breakwater they may close the gate. You never know.

I fished that area for many years, haven't been on gooseberry since the early 90's. The gate keeper thang is a new addition since my time @ goose..
The SW rock pile extends 300' from shore. Awesome spot! Can get kinda messy there, be careful.
Also, Allen's Pond to the east is a beautiful spot. It is several miles from gooseberry, worth the trip. The pond starts to empty 2.5 hours after Westport high tide.

That is my intended direction to head. I will be hugging the shore. Thanks
