Did anyone happen to read the Globe today and see the article in the City & Region section about Fenway Picnic in the Park -- a fundraiser for the kids? It shows a photo of a cool family seated on an American Flag on the ground for the publicity shot. The cool family is Mike Lowell and his wife and children.

Well I for one was shocked to see the flag the guys and I in Iraq or all around the world are fighting for being used as a common rug to sit on. :realmad: In my days it was an offense to allow the flag to touch the ground when being lowered at revelry or for any other use of old glory.

Perhaps I am being overly sensitive to honoring the flag, but someone should have their brains examined to see if they are sitting on them.:exp:

People just don't get it Don! Lowell should know better and one thing is certain....neither will his children! People have no respect anymore and the flag unfortunately is used more as a fashion statement than an honorable symbol!!!

A real flag?

That would be pretty pathetic...you sure it wasn't a beach towel or blanket?

I find even the image of a flag being sat on to be disrespectful!

whats next

stars and stripes urinals

so you can pee like an American

where my wife works they have this

flag pole sticking out from the building

and the American flag is wrapped so tightly
around it...

(perhaps the wind did this)

that the flag looks like a diaper ..or something else NASTY

and the security people and or management are completely

oblivious to this fact and have been for quite some time (6 months)

even though the fourth of JULY has just came and went.

everytime i see it - I cringe !!
