Are wire guides fine for braided line as long as you have a tip guide that will support braid? I've always thought of them as only being good for mono but have heard differing opinions recently.

MAC 07-31-2007, 10:42 AM braid will eat wire guides. just look at what braid does to a VS line roller. And that is made of titanium. Mike P 07-31-2007, 11:14 AM Mono eats wire guides, so braid will just do it faster. Before ceramics came out, I'd get maybe two seasons out of a set of wire guides. The ones nearest the tip groove first, but eventually you'll replace them all, so I always did the whole set. SeaWolf 07-31-2007, 01:02 PM yes, ss/wire guide will wear faster. also, you do not need guide sizes as large as the old school mono belief w/ braid.
