Red Sox just picked up Gagne for Gabbard and a minor league outfielder.

This Bullpen is becoming un-friggin-believable.

I don't think its that big of a mistake....Gabbard had a whopping 14 starts total in the majors....and he did get smacked around pretty good his last start.

Donnelly is done for the season, Timlin is Hurt....Again. Now you have a solid Lefty in Okajima and a solid Righty in Gagne coming out of the pen to set up for Papelbon. Its going to be pretty much lights out when we get into the 7th inning now.

gabbard is and will be better than lester....2 mo rental??? we're so deep in the system i know we could've kept him. what's the rarest commodity in the bigs- lefty who can get outs- can't have enough of them.

I'll take Lester over Gabbard!!!
You can never have enough closer pitchers!!!

I like the move. Schilling is back either Sunday or Monday. Lester is the #5 starter now.

Buccholtz could see some action soon too, and he's supposed to be really special. He beat Clemens earlier this year in a AA start.

Gabbard did the Sox proud, but I don't think he'll ever be more than a #4 or #5 starter. Who knows? Watch him win a Cy Young in a few years. lol

Give Gabbard a full year and his ERA will probably be sitting around 5.00.

But only time will tell.....Right now our starters only have to give us 6 strong and then the door should get shut.

I love this move, the Yankees must be seething with anger.

Gabbard did the job and earned his way to the big leagues, I wish him the best, his health will be suspect for a full season as his arm as been under the knife so often he can't fully extend it. To have Okajima in the 7th, Gagne in the 8th and Pap to close is as good as it gets. :gu:

Plus we've still got the opportunity to watch Willie Mo grow into the homerun hitting juggernaut this board believes he will be. :bl2:

GO RED SOX!!!

I think you had one too many sips of the "Kool-Aid" on that one....

Oh yeah, I'm sipping sniffin and smoking the Kool-aid, but that aside, as long the player is wearing a boston uniform, I'll be cheering for them. I remember damning Bellhorn and wondering if his bat weighted 300lbs because he couldn't get it off his shoulder, but then that fateful october night in 2004, Bellhorn saved the day with a homer.

at the time it looked like a slam dunk for the Sox, and they did win it all, so who knows, but my God after Gagne's complete collapse he still gets $10 million this year, What would he of gotten if he was any good?
