I see a Jap. version of the reel on ebay, was wondering what the diff is? Is the the High Speed retrieve (4500H) ? Is that it?

I bought two Z4500's last year on EBAY. Only difference I can see is the owners manual is in Japanese. Exact same reel. H is the high speed version, I think. Mine are not high speed.

The reels are the same - just that Daiwa USA does not offer the high speed version. Even if you buy a Saltiga from a US Dealer the manual is written in Japanese.

The only difference is the money you'll save by getting it from Japan--about $150 the last time I checked ;)

It will vary depending on the dollar/yen fluctuation.

If the guy on eBay is GinRinPeche I can recommend him highly. He ships via EMS and they will even deliver on a Sunday. Mine took about 5 days from order to being spooled with 65# Whiplash :D

Ditto. I went through the same reservations about Japan model myself. Ended up with Z4500(Japan Version), fully happy with it. Think it was 534$ including shipping.
