Had to use it a few years ago. Research all other metals combine the worst metal working properties of them all and there you have it. Worst machinability that i know. I feel your pain. Please speak no more of it. If i remember right it work hardens.

The qualaties you hate about it are the reason i need it- its for a part I need to build that will always be around 1500 degrees- I need to find some scrap tubing- 3 inches x 24 inches

You can probably get away with stainless at 1500 F continuous. I assume that's 1500 F. Many , many annealing furnace muffles are made from stainless. If you truly need a high temp metal , be prepared to pay through the nose.

Nebe, have you ever gone to any of the many junk metal dealers in R.I. for what you need? Probably a foolish question given your background. But there are many many metal dealers in your state whose inventory must include stock that would help you out.

I'm cutting alot of inconel right at this moment.$40,000.00 blocks of it about 10 blocks.Inconel is 95 to 98 percent nicol makes its one of the metals in the exotic category.

If it HAS to be inconel, you might have to buy it from a mill......that's a good size piece of pricey material. even at a scrap yard you will have a tough time finding it.

Try a restaurant supply house. It was used plenty in restaurant supplies. You might get a hunk from them.
