Stupid question. Someone recently told me that I would catch better fish when the tide is coming in, rather than going out. Does this just mean I should go at high tide? I go in the morning, and as I fish, the sunrises, along with the tide....


Also, I was told that fresh bait gets bigger fish, over the frozen bait I use. Is this true?

With tides, my experience is that different spots produce on different tides. Depending on where you are fishing someone may be right. Sounds like you have a good combination, first light is many times very productive.

With bait, if you can get fresh, it is more desireable, but don't stop fishing because you only have frozen.

The fresher is better is true, however they will also eat frozen. the reason freasher is better is that the bloody pieces leave a nice scent trail. To answer your other question I would have to see the place, so I will meet you sat am and decipher it for you. :laughs: Seriously though if you check it out at low tide and see where the structure is, then know which way the current goes both incoming, and outgoing. You will be able to make some good choices. For example I have one place that is only good 3 hrs before high tide untill high tide, because of the way the current runs. Try to fish 1 whole tide at a new spot to see how and what happens.

Different strokes for different spots. I like a tide that's dropping for rivers (3 hours to slack low best), but coastal I prefer the incoming (3 hours to high slack), but either is better than a slack:).
