so there is a meeting at the viking club on wednesday and i was seriously considering attending. what goes on at the meetings? is it a sit down discussion group type thing or a relaxed type atmosphere with speakers and general striper discussion amongst all that attend? also if after the meeting i decide its something i would like to become active in could i join right then, or do i need recomondations from existing members.
thanks in advance for any replys.

Yes you can join at the meetings. I have been a member since the spring, and have only made a couple of meetings since joining, I have been busy. You will enjoy meeting people that have a lot to offer, John R, Got Stripers, Bill & Jules, and many others. You can learn alot about different things, they have speakers, how to nights, and some awsome raffles. I may be at the next one if time allows.

Sometimes there are guest speakers, sometimes not.
usually have a couple of cold ones. Shoot the breeze then they go over club business, new fish news etc....
Then an open discussion of " WHERE ARE THE FISH?"

There is a raffle table every meeting and sometimes door prizes as well.

I'll be there for a while, you should check it out.

MS,

Doors open at 7pm....Business meeting portion goes until it is over, average time 45 minutes including fisheries issues....break ofr refreshments and raffle prizes.....entertainment (this month is a return from two years ago-the gentleman is the number one speaker on Boston Harbor and knows more interesting stuff than you can imagine-last time he came the place was dead silent for the whole presentation...then comes the door prizes(for members only), the mystery raffle, and the regular raffle-this month the raffle is loaded with stuff from Tournament Sponsors and will be a good one.....hope you can come as a guest and decide to join

I was a member of MSBA in the mid-80's through the mid-90's when I was living in the Boston area. I want to say that my experience with the club was a great one. I enjoyed the companionship of other serious fishermen as well as the beginners. I know that some of my fishing buddies have gone to the great pond in the sky and some of the novices could now kick my butt. It is a great club. I am happy to have been a part of a great organization. I still subscribe to the MSBA newsletter and hope to be back in the Boston area again to become an active member. As in all clubs it is the members are the heart of the organization and what is given to the club is what members will receive. I was one of the lucky members to have won 2 legs of the Tri-State Tournament and was known to have on a regular basis to bag some huge fish. The members of the club helped me gain those experiences and I hope they will for you. Now that I'm not in the area I really miss my friends and the club. Tight LInes:)
