I will be in Jamestown RI this weekend staying at a friends and need to get some fishing in. I am not familiar with fishing RI and need some help. From all that I read and see its a rocky game - but I am not ready, no Korkers for me. Any somewhat safe area to try? I throw plugs/eels but also would even baitfish for any species that is prominent. A during the day scup fest is fine. PMs are great, no honeyholes just basics. Thanks in advance.

be very careful. the real good spots always have the black on the rocks. and it's slicker than my ex-wifes lawyer. beavertail end is the best. joe lyons had a thread a few years back on fishing the island.

Check out the articles section on Joe's site, SurfcastingrhodeIsland There are a few good articles on the area you will be staying.

you really can't go wrong just setting up anywhere along the ocean front if you want to scup from a safe area.

just find some DRY FLAT rock to rest on. watch the wind and waves, NEVER TURN YOUR BACK TO THE WATER.
