Stumped 100% on part deux...I'm just going to combine my score on both tests so that I can say for the record that I failed only one striper fishing knowledge test, not two in a row. You really know how to hurt a guy.

Okay, since not many responses I guess I will just give out the answers.

1. It was a #2300 6 inch Creek Chub Husky Pikie in Mullet (color # 07) and the lip was bent straight down so it would not swim but push water and pop along the surface.
2. Joe Brooks was the first person to ever catch a Striper over 20 pounds on a fly rod with a popping bug at Coos Bay Oregon, a 29 pounder.
3. It was a mammoth #23 Capn' Bill's Swimmer which Red Top and Bunny DiPietro owned after buying the company from the Schearer Brothers original creators of the Capn' Bill lures line.
4. Old Mister Boston's rocking chair and the stars of Hennesey Brandy. The annual liquor expenses (each memeber had his own liquor locker) for the members was only topped by the bait bill.
5. Gibbs 2-1/4 oz. Polaris, white w/ red head.
6. Charley Murat's shop. Master rod builder and plug maker and devoted champion of the Darter and teaser combo. He died with his boots on literally, he dropped dead in the surf of Nauset while playing a bass.
7. Monomoy Island off of Chatham, before seals the mussel beds just off shore and just inside Bearses Shoal were big bass heaven and local commercial guys wire lined just off the beach for many big bass in the old days there.

Thanks Jim. I almost had a stroke when I saw Smithfield. As an old Murat regular I can tell you that Charlie and his son-in law Dave Hammock are rolling over in their graves. They were both very proud of being from North Smithfield.
BTW, anyone who remembers Murats will remember the neon Striper on the roof. I know George Heavey took over the shop when dave died and moved it to Attleboro on Kelly Blvd. I don't know what happened to the old sign. I think Hab talks to George occasionally.

...as yes many fond memories from the Rustic drive-in. It's still open but shows only first run movies now. Got to be one of the very last drive-ins.

I used to visit Murrats when George moved it to North Attleboro. He has since shut the shop down and retired. I am sorry to report that his wife passed after he shut the shop down. He was a cranky guy, but after four short years he got nicer..lol. He had a mount of the fish that Charlies was fighting when he died on the beach at Nausett with a 20 pounder at the end of his line. I use to laugh when folks would visit and ask George how much the shiners were. He would look all pissed off and wrap his hand against this huge sign behind the counter and say can you read this? SHINERS $4.00 / DOZEN!! I miss him and wish him well. Does anyone know what he is up to?

I believe he moved to Alabama. I did know about fran passing. Donna his Down Syndrome child also passed away last year.

Geez what a nightmare. I hope he has found some happiness in Alabama.
