View Full Version : WEEI question
Slipknot 09-06-2007, 09:16 PM was wondering if anyone knew what is up with Callahan from the morning show:huh: he dissapeared but I thought it may have been because he was losing his voice and maybe had an illness or something. the other day one of the shows said something about him getting a contract in nebraska, that seems like a bit much. anyone know why he hasn't been on the air?
BigFish 09-06-2007, 09:20 PM If its true I hope he is taking John Dennis with him!:wavey:
Squid kids Dad 09-07-2007, 05:49 AM I did hear it was some kind of contract dispute with both D & C...????
Raider Ronnie 09-07-2007, 05:51 AM They are both in the hospital recovering after being run over by a
Metco bus !!!
:bl2::bl2::bl2::rotflmao:
afterhours 09-07-2007, 06:16 AM their contracts expired and i'm sure they want large amounts of cha ching.....
Uncle Matt 09-07-2007, 07:57 AM If I remember correctly, they are looking for a new contract but I believe the network, or WEEI, has locked them out of the station preventing them from working. I believe the network released a statement something to the effect of "this time is giving Dennis and Callahan some time to reflect on where they want to be." That statement came out 3 + weeks ago. As far as I'm concerned, let them go to Nebraska. All they did was scream and complain.
nightprowler 09-07-2007, 07:58 AM their contracts expired and i'm sure they want large amounts of cha ching.....
yep.
callahan was out for his throat or whatever and dennis was on vacation and they were supposed to be reunited but since their contracts were expiring in 2 weeks or something weei held them out until they re-signed. they want more money, weei won't budge.
sounds like patriots and branch....
i wasn't a big fan of them, but these revolving jokers in the morning have been pretty bad.
fishbones 09-07-2007, 08:56 AM It's a typical WEEI contract thing. These guys think they are irreplacable and the station thinks they can get anyone to do it. The reality is that hosts on that station get paid VERY well to do a 4 hour show, not to mention all of the "fringe" benefits like vip tickets, free products (like cars) from advertisers, etc... I enjoy their show for the most part, but I can live without them. If I had a choice, Id rather see that annoying gnat Metaparel go away.
The odd thing about this whole situation is that the station is being quiet about it and they keep having the D&C promos running during the show. As for the talk about Callahan going to Nebraska, that was a joke. They were talking about Bill Callahan (Cornhusker HC) signing a contract in Nebraska.
Bronko 09-07-2007, 09:12 AM Apaprently D&C are asking for $1.2 Mil each per year and WEEI has offered $750K each. Last thing I heard was that D&C turned down $900k.
Uncle Matt 09-07-2007, 10:15 AM $900,000 a year / 52 weeks in a year = $17,307.69 each per week
$17,307.69 / 20 hours a week (5 days @ 4 hours per) = $865.38 per hour
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you can see why they are so upset and unwilling to take the deal. They obviously cannot feed their families on 17K a week!
MarshCappa 09-07-2007, 11:17 AM I don't feel for D&C whatsoever. They'll cave after they look at their propects or lack there of. Meter is an idiot, I caught him on the BC radio broadcast and laughed my ass off. Sounded like a high school kid calling the game. He's horrible.
Raider Ronnie 09-07-2007, 05:09 PM I listen to Mike & Mike on ESPN radio (890) most of the time in the morning.
Squid kids Dad 09-07-2007, 05:14 PM I like D&C...Hopefully they come back..
Bigcat 09-07-2007, 05:52 PM Let them go, I can't stand Callahan and all his politics...it's a sports talk show:wave:
boot man 09-07-2007, 06:13 PM I hope they go. I cant listen to them.
Squid kids Dad 09-07-2007, 08:32 PM I think its a nice mix...Geez.. You cant listen to all sports all day..At least I cant..I am in my car all day....Bring them back
Bronko 09-10-2007, 07:08 AM They are Baaaaaaaaack!
