I'm just curious what some of the risks might be when purchasing a used VS. Does anyone know what's involved in registering, service,or warranty status ?

Thanks

I'd want to know how old it is. If a Reel Ventures or earlier model, has the shaft been changed over to titanium? If not changed they will probably change it over when you send it in for service. Even if you do not ask them to, and this is about 2 beans I think. (It happened to a friend of mine and he was pissed. There was nothing wrong with the old shaft but it was changed out anyways)

If an older one and you want to self service, the side plate is a biatch to get off. The newer ones have the hexagon shape that can be taken off with a box end wrench or a VS wrench if you have one.

As far as transferring warranty, I believe all you have to do is register it under your name. (this can be done on the web site) If it is newer one and in decent shape I wouldn't hesitate if price were right. (100+ off of retail)

there is a lot about it to really put your mind @ rest u need to call them and ask the questions yourself .I know depending how old it is the ser# may be taken off the list I saw one on e-bay the other day for 375.00 really old one and the ser# was taken out of service . good luck .:rtfm:
