I need to get out of my surf mentaility when it comes to fishing for stripers. I lose 95% of my confidence once the sun comes up. I've seen some great daylight fishing in the spring with bunker, but those circumstances may not hold true for fall.

I've seen P23 do well plugging rocky areas in the daylight and Zacs has mentioned 3-way rig for eels (no clue how to 3 way). So, knowing that I primarilty fish Narr. Bay and the areas around the mouth, any thoughts on strategies for daylight fishing? I will still be primarliy early moring/night fishing but if would like to see some daylight action. I have a group of friends coming out to fish with me the last weekend in Sept and don't think they'll be able to sling eels and most likely will be a little hung over when I get them on the water. I'd like to have a plan to get them into fish after the sun comes up. As always - THANKS!!! :jump:

seriously, I am more intersted in some daylight tactics, trying to break my old nightime surfcasting habits.

deeper water, structure.
I would suggest looking at tube and worm as a trolling tactic.
This time of year you could be looking at 40 - 50 ' water for structure.
Mussel beds, craggy lumps etc.

and trolling really slow, like 1.5-2 kts water speed , relative speed depending on the tide would be that plus/minus tide flow speed

If there is little drift (light winds) toss a 1/2oz rubber core sinker, cast up drift, let the eel swim down and fish eels that way... much more fun then 3-way, but both still work!
