Here they are. Five days old to cutting the vine today. The big one stopped growing about two and 1/2 weeks ago. Sorry both pic's didn't load. This is the end result. Weighs about 430-435#'s

I love pumpkin carving.....one year I printed out a striper pic and yes made a stencil from it and carved a spooky striper pumpkin! Imagine what you could do with 430# of carving material?.......a whole school!!!!!

I know I had a picture of it......I will see if I can find it:angel:

I think it's a sunscreen, Scott, if I remember correctly. My sister used to row giants for the Topsfield Fair competition, so I am aware of the hours of work, time, and fertilizer you've put in Frank. Hope it holds up. Nothing worse than having one blow out. And what a stink when they do.....

When I saw the title of this thread I expected to see a midget in a big fuzzy purple hat driving a Coupe De Ville.

That is one impressive pumpkin though....nice job

The white cotton batting is used as sunscreen just as Nightfighter suggested. I pull it over the strawberries to keep the birds away also. It also is helpful keeping the kids from seeing whats down back in the yard. I bought a roll of it about five years ago and I think I have twenty years worth left.

The only thing I am going to do with the pumpkin is dig out the seeds. Quite a few people want them and I keep some for myself and grow another fruit from the seeds next year. The nice thing about pumpkins is that you name the darn thing after yourself when it comes from a closed pollination.

If anyone gets a chance check out the program "Lord of the Gourds" on PBS channel 44. It shows how some people become fanatics. They turn there whole yards into one big pumpkin patch. The show is pretty GD entertaining. I am kind of hoping after I dig out the seeds it will weigh a manageable amount that I might get it onto the deck so Bev can watch it while I am on the Vineyard. Thanks for all the nice comments.

Jenn you can the fish, thats awesome!
