Are the Pats that stupid?

I'm going to wait to hear the facts. Who knows what's on the tape? I'm wondering if they do it just to get under the other teams' skin.

If they were doing it, they'll be punished appropriately and they'll still win the division.

Has anyone seen the message boards on espn? Lol, it's like one big Jets support group. Everyone keeps saying that they should be thrown out of the league or something. I'm sure the camera enabled the Pats to run the "Let Tom Brady sit in the pocket so long" play, so that he has enough time to pose a la Zoolander, when he throws the ball. Or the "let a hobbled Randy Moss outrun three guys" play.

I'm a huge Pats fan but the very latest is they were caught "with their pants down".

Its now more or less up to "interpreting the rules".Loopholes and wording.

But its my understanding they've been caught and will have to face some type of discipline at some point.

to be honest, who really cares? baseball teams try and figure out signs all the time. Whenever there is a runner on second there is always suspicion of them giving signs to the batter.

themz the rules though, guess we will see how this turns out.

ANY PRESS IS GOOD PRESS. :buds:

I hear Belichick has as many friends outside Boston as Bonds does outside San Fran.

Like TDF said, if we're guilty we'll do our time.
The camera was taken in the 1st qtr, so I don't think the outcome of this game had anything to do with cheating.

Enjoy it Ronnie, I remember when the Pats sucked like the Raiders, the only joy we could gain was from others misery.

GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the big deal people...every team - every individual - in every sport - looks for a competitive advantage. Every team looks to stretch the rules as much as possible...at all evels of the organization. Open your eyes people! Take NASCAR for example. How many times have you seen improper parts used? Crew chiefs get suspended, drivers get suspended...teams get fined...almost every week. So the Patriots got caught breaking the video taping rules...big deal! Belichick is no dummy! He knew he had an employee on the sidelines taking video...no question. And I'll bet he's thought long and hard about what would happen if he got questioned about it. That is why his statement claimed it was an "interpretation of the rules." Give it one week...after we bitch slap the Chargers all will be forgotten.

There were rumors of the same thing last year against the Colts in the AFC Championship game. Nothing was done. You're right, PM, are they that stupid to cheat in THAT game.
I gotta hand it to the camera man though, HUGE grapes, that boy. 50 feet from the Jets coaches on the Jets sideline. He coulda been creamed...

As the Raiders saying used to go back in the 70s
"If you aint cheating, you aint trying"

LOL. Ray Guy almost made it to Canton punting a ball partially filled with helium--or so rumor has it :rotfl:

And the Snake's classic "forward lateral", uh, I mean "fumble" into the end zone for Casper to recover ;)

Freddie "Doctor Stickum" Bilitnekoff.

Those were the days :laughs:

And let's not forget Lester Hayes, draped all over the receivers to 15 yards down field.... I bet the Raiders are directly responsible for more rule changes than any other three teams.

Yup--but I loved watching them back then. It seemed like they were always the late doubleheader game.

Raiders vs Chiefs--always a blood war.

All of the guys I mentioned were great players. Stabler belongs in Canton. He was Elway before there was an Elway--master of the two-minute drill. Helium or not, Guy was the best punter ever.

Did Hayes and Haynes ever play in the same defensive backfield?

Stabler Should be in the hall of fame! If he were playing in todays west coast system , he would be one of the greatest ever, but they played throw deep/ power running back then, and when you throw deep all of the time you will throw ints as he did, keeping him out!
Guy was not only one of the greatest punters ever, he was their 3rd string quarterback most years with Lamonica & Stabler, then Plunkett..
but Guy had the best arn (by far) of all of them! just ask John Madden
They were the starting corners in super bowl 18, maybe the greatest starting pair of corners ever!

Bill Simms Page2 on espn has a good article on the evil bill belichick, and they bring up these points -

*Hey, remember a couple years ago when the Steelers accused the Colts of piping in crowd noise at the RCA Dome?

*Remember when the Broncos broke salary-cap rules in order to build the 1997-98 championship team?

*Remember when Jim Haslett admitted to using steroids when he was playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers during their dynasty years of the '70s?

*Remember when Herm Edwards admitted to breaking NFL rules by using Stick-Um even after it was banned in 1980?

*And remember when Lawrence Taylor said he used to send hookers up to the hotel rooms of opposing running backs while he sat at home doing blow? I mean, are we taking away the '86 Giants' Super Bowl championship too? Come on, already. This stuff happens.

Someone once asked Bear Bryant who was the best QB he ever coached, expecting to hear that it was another guy who wore #12.

Bryant replied, "Kenny Stabler was the best QB I ever coached" without a second's hestitation.

"coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for spying on an opponent's defensive signals.

The commissioner also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs and second- and third-round picks if it doesn't."

I think we're going to make it just fine, now I hope the best for San Fran this year :usd:

I take that back, we get to keep the 49er's 1st rounder. I wish them the worst.

The arguement I have for the punishment is, Belichick could leave the Pats and we'd be without the draft picks and he could be at a new club with all their picks.

The whiner line had a funny line yesterday - " Hello IRS, this is Eric Mangini, .. my father hasn't paid his taxes" :laughs:

The fines are insignificant. As for the draft pick, they'll figure out something to still have a good draft. This was just a witch hunt because other teams are sick of the Patriots and Belichik. Every other team in the NFL does something against the rules to get an advantage. I believe that Goodell is sending a message that he's not letting the same old BS go on anymore. He's doled out harsh punishments for players, and now one of the premier teams in the league. I'm glad he's being tough. I can't stand the punk players who think they can get away with whatever they want. As for the Pats.....every other team that plays them this year better be careful. They are going to be a pissed off and hungry team who is going to want to stick it to everyone else. And, if they win it all, there can be no talk about them cheating because they will be under a microsope all year.

The tape/cd was seized/stolen after the cameraman was roughed up by Jets security people. In other words the camera was "stolen" by Jets security and turned over to management after the security ran and hid with the camera to watch what had been recorded. Anything is stolen when the person taking it doesn't have the lawful right to take what was taken.

Total "poop" on behalf of poor losers who aren' talented enough to play against us. On to the superbowl "2007".

Eric, Eric who? At the end of this seaon.

Belicheck should report the theft of the camera to the S.P.'s at the Foxborough barracks. That would be a hoot.
