View Full Version : So Is It Official?!?!?! BigFish 09-18-2007, 07:40 PM Did Striped-Bass.com win the Striper Cup???!!!:eyes::huh: BigFish 09-18-2007, 08:03 PM Anyone? Buellar??:laugha: johnny ducketts 09-18-2007, 08:24 PM I was just gonna post this.. It Said all fish had to be weighed by the 16th TheSpecialist 09-18-2007, 08:27 PM According to this months OTW which arrived today , we are in second by 2.52 points, Team Jersey Shore has First. Next closest is 25 points back johnny ducketts 09-18-2007, 08:32 PM Second! damn I thought we had this thing won :( BigFish 09-18-2007, 08:38 PM Thats the magazine......website says we are in first place! johnny ducketts 09-18-2007, 08:42 PM huh? Maybe we did? BigFish 09-18-2007, 08:44 PM Says we got a 35 point lead + or -! Mike P 09-18-2007, 09:04 PM Jim Sylvester added a 38+ on the last weekend, too. Rockport24 09-18-2007, 09:05 PM yeah the magazine is not as up to date as the website, you guys got this thing!! some incredible fish up there this year, you guys are some damn good fisherman by the way, my new PB fish that I got a couple of weeks ago was good enought for a weekly winner in the shore category!! I am beyond pyched..I lucked out on that one..all you guys must have taken the week off or something... TheSpecialist 09-19-2007, 08:56 PM This months magazine had way more points than the website, when I checked it yesterday. I would have to say the mag is right and the website has not been updated yet. luds 09-20-2007, 06:27 AM Jim Sylvester added a 38+ on the last weekend, too. Nice job Jim!:humpty: 41 lb average isn't too bad. :btu: JohnR 09-20-2007, 07:08 AM This months magazine had way more points than the website, when I checked it yesterday. I would have to say the mag is right and the website has not been updated yet. How many points did the maggie have -v- the site? Clogston29 09-20-2007, 07:24 AM sometimes the cookies thing (don't know much about computers) keeps you from seeing the up to date standings on line. that may be the issue. the website should always be ahead of the mag. luds 09-20-2007, 07:34 AM The website has fish weighed in as recently as 9/12. I imagine that the magazine is not that up to date. TheSpecialist 09-20-2007, 12:20 PM The mag has Jersey at 497.36, and us at 494.84 luds 09-20-2007, 12:25 PM We have 532.87 now.:btu: Mike P 09-20-2007, 12:27 PM We were at 532 and change the last time I looked at the standings--without Jim's last fish. NJ was second at 497. Not a boat fish in the 20. Ray Jobin's group was third with all boat fish. They have to tweak the shore handicap next year to make it a little more even and fair. 30% is too much of a bonus. Some day when I have some time, after they post the final results, I'll see how it would have shaken out with a 1.15 bonus factor instead of a 1.3. The best solution is separate shore/boat club divisions. Big enough clubs could enter a team in both at the start. TheSpecialist 09-20-2007, 12:29 PM Just checked the website, the point are different than they were on my home comp, cookies are the culprit. Rockport24 09-20-2007, 01:00 PM was there a shore bonus in the Schafer cup? JohnR 09-20-2007, 01:02 PM I think a 1.25 multiplier is fair - maybe 1.2 There will be many years where the boat guys trounce the shore guys and 1.4 wouldn't make a difference. It will be unpredictable year by year. NIB 09-21-2007, 05:51 AM Johnee is right it was a good surf yr. Where were all u guys last yr..:D No need to change ur name to Tony now John.. But if u wanna be like the NIB I understand..:hihi: Nice job Team S-B I'm proud of my past association with u guys. U have put together a team of fine anglers who fished hard..U deserve it.. Only one other team I would have rather won.:D JohnR 09-21-2007, 06:42 AM Johnee is right it was a good surf yr. Where were all u guys last yr..:D Was a good surf year for you guys too. No need to change ur name to Tony now John.. But if u wanna be like the NIB I understand..:hihi: Changing to "Tony" after the three Amigos of last years contest; Tony O, Goose, and Nibtastic - So Passe - I think I need to change it too, oh I dunno, Joshston :rotflmao: (sounds better than Clogluds)
Nice job Team S-B I'm proud of my past association with u guys.U have put together a team of fine anglers who fished hard..U deserve it.. Only one other team I would have rather won.:D
We'll let you back :bl: BigFish 09-21-2007, 08:38 AM So....did we win? Clogston29 09-21-2007, 09:02 AM still not official, but unless there are a whole lot of fish that haven't post yet, we won. kind of annoying that its taking so long. I'm sweating out a weekly and possible monthly in September and really just want to know. I'm getting sick of checking their site all the time. The Dad Fisherman 09-21-2007, 10:01 AM Not for nothing but they are probably building the suspense by not posting it. Makes for a better Striperfest next weekend when there are still questions in the air as to the outcome. zacs 09-21-2007, 10:12 AM i figured they would not update from here and announce the winner at the fest? Rockport24 09-21-2007, 10:50 AM still not official, but unless there are a whole lot of fish that haven't post yet, we won. kind of annoying that its taking so long. I'm sweating out a weekly and possible monthly in September and really just want to know. I'm getting sick of checking their site all the time. you got another 40 in September?? jim sylvester 09-21-2007, 10:51 AM I saw will from OTW today although he cannot "officially say that we won.......he did say that it wouold be best for the S-B.COM team to be in attendance sunday at the striperfest:bounce::cheers::jump::humpty::kewl::cl aps::happy::uhuh::buds: think thats enough info Mike P 09-21-2007, 03:57 PM Last year they gave plaques to the top 5 teams, besides the club trophy. Clogston29 09-22-2007, 02:41 PM there really is no fair multiplier. the only way to do it, if people want to take it seriously, is to separate it. The other is to just accept it as fun and not worry about it. if you compare the number of 50s taken from the boats vs the number from the surf the 1.3 factor starts to look fair. I think that there was only 1 surf fish over 50 and only 4 surf fish over 44 lbs. The fact that we had 3 of those is why we won. If one boat team had 3 or the 4 largest boat fish, they probably would have won. Without those three fish it would have been close. It would have easily gone the other way if a couple guys on the same team stumbled onto a school of large from a boat that hung around long enough and then the surf guys would be saying the factor wasn't good enough. having the multiplier basically adds more luck to the equation every year because some years the factor will sway the results towards boat or surf. tynan19 09-23-2007, 08:10 AM So if we are all there I would think that the top 10 get in the picture right? Congrats to the guys who went large. It will be a great time. BigFish 09-23-2007, 08:47 AM Top 10 and the Bossman!:claps: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
